Carl Carande says KPMG has created an environment where partners and professionals bring their best selves to work each and every day, have the opportunity for professional development, and have a shared sense of purpose in the work they do for clients.

"One of the best things about my job is when I visit with our partners and professionals and get energized as they share their perspectives and ideas on how we can enhance our client services and make KPMG an even better place to work," says Carande, who is

Vice Chair of Advisory for KPMG. "We are optimistic about the future of our firm and remain focused on executing our strategy and innovating our business."

Speaking of the future, Carande says KPMG's priority continues to be its people and its clients, which means the firm will continue to evolve the business and support "our people so that they offer our clients the very best consulting services. By leveraging technology and other digital tools we will continue to improve our clients' business performance, turn risk and compliance into opportunities, and develop strategies that will improve efficiencies and enhance value," he says. "Our culture will help attract the best talent to join our firm and ensure that every client and community organization wants to engage with us."

In addition, KPMG partners and professionals are poised to tackle the most important business challenges, he says. Through data-driven insights, the firm is able to meet its clients' unique needs and help them gain a competitive advantage: from revised strategies and reconsidered business models to new products and expanded markets.

"We bring an innovative approach to every conversation, which is what continues to make this business exciting," Carande says. "Looking at the marketplace, we see opportunities for our partners and professionals to be innovative, to think fast and be more agile as we evolve our products and services."

Carande says KPMG's 2019 U.S. CEO Outlook survey showed that agility has emerged as a critical capability. Some 68 percent of U.S. CEOs believe that it is a do-or-die for business—that being too slow can lead to obsolescence. And agility requires maturity in innovation processes: 63 percent agree that over the next three years they need to improve their innovation processes and execution. "We are well-positioned to help with that effort," Carande says.

As far as being recognized as a Best Firm to Work For, Carande says it makes him incredibly proud and validates what he and clients have known for years—KPMG delivers the highest quality work, is easy to work with, and a great place to start and build a career. "Our people are proud of the work they do, the client relationships they make, and the value that they are driving in the broader market," he says. "Being a Best Firm to Work For helps empower our teams to bring great value to our clients and communities."

What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart?

We offer our clients service across the full spectrum of Audit, Tax, and Advisory with services ranging from strategy through execution; this provides a great range of projects and experiences for our people. We are proud to have built an environment that places a high importance on integrity and professionalism and is a great place to work.
