In its second round of cuts this year, IBM Corp. has laid off about 5,000 U.S. workers—the majority of them in the Global Business Services division, according to published reports.
The March 26 cuts represent about 4 percent of IBM's U.S.-based workforce. Despite record-breaking 2008 earnings and healthy 2009 revenue projections, IBM has laid off nearly 10,000 U.S.-based employees this year.
