Even though women currently make up only about a quarter of the consulting industry, their collective impact on the profession is far greater. With this in mind, Consulting magazine brought the industry together on October 30 at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York to recognize eight Women Leaders in Consulting.
When we launched the Women Leaders in Consulting event last year, we knew right away that we had tapped into something very special. More than 150 industry leaders and executives attended the event in 2007. This year's dinner attracted even bigger numbers than the inaugural gala, and now that the genie's out of the bottle, it will never go back. Consulting magazine is proud to be at the forefront of the women leaders in consulting movement, and this 14-page special section highlights the very best of the evening.
The eight award recipients—Jeanie Daniel Duck, Holly Benson, Valerie Logan, Vicki Huff, Janice James, Heidi Fung, Karla Martin and Channing Rollo—are featured on the following pages. For them, the gala was a celebration of the determination each has shown in an industry where the road less traveled isn't always smooth, but is sometimes rocky and often uphill.
