With over two decades of industry experience, Slater will focus on shaping the future of consulting in a data and AI-driven environment as he succeeds Nicholas Fox as the head of the representative body for the UK consulting industry.

The Management Consultancies Association (MCA), the representative body for the UK consulting sector, has appointed Alex Slater as its next President. Slater, who currently serves as the Managing Director of Capgemini Invent in the UK and Northern Europe, brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the leadership position.

Slater formally assumed the role on March 25, succeeding Nicholas Fox of KPMG. Fox completed a two-year term during which he oversaw the expansion of the MCA's membership base to more than 100 consultancies. Slater was already serving as a board member for the association prior to his election.

In his professional capacity at Capgemini Invent, Slater has held his current Managing Director role since July 2023. His tenure at the firm also includes time as Chief Operating Officer of the UK business and serving as the firm's Global Industry Lead for the Public Sector. Before joining Capgemini Invent, Slater spent 13 years at Accenture, where he rose to the level of Managing Director.

"As President of the MCA, I am committed to leading with purpose, ensuring that as consultants, we feel part of a broader profession, and helping to shape the future role of consulting in an increasingly data and AI-enabled professional services environment," Slater stated regarding his appointment.

Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive of the MCA, thanked Fox for his service to the industry and noted that the association looks forward to working with Slater to further strengthen the sector's impact on both the economy and society.

The leadership transition comes at a complex time for the UK consulting market. While the MCA's latest economic outlook forecast industry growth of 5.7% in 2026 and 7.4% in 2027, those projections were made prior to the outbreak of the Iran conflict. The association expects to revise these estimates downward in its next update as the sector navigates shifting geopolitical and economic conditions.
