The engineering executive will be responsible for driving operational performance and delivery excellence for the professional services firm, effective April 6.

Professional services firm WSP has named Katus Watson as its new chief operating officer for the U.S. business. Based in Tampa, Watson will join the firm's U.S. executive leadership team starting April 6.
In his new role, Watson will oversee the operational performance of WSP's U.S. operations. His responsibilities include advancing the firm's strategic priorities with a focus on delivery consistency, quality, and accountability across the company's regions and technical disciplines. He will also work with business line leaders to improve operational efficiency and project execution.
"Katus brings deep industry experience, a proven leadership track record and a strong cultural fit to our organization," said Joe Sczurko, WSP U.S. region president. "His extensive background equips him with knowledge to understand our diverse, multi-portfolio business, the operational demands of complex projects and the expectations of our exceptional client base."
Watson previously served as executive vice president and general manager for the eastern U.S. and Canada regions of a global engineering firm. He is a licensed professional engineer with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in environmental engineering from Howard University.
He also serves on the Civil Engineering Education Department Advisory Council at Howard University, is a member of Leadership Florida, and is the chairman of United Hands of Hope, a non-profit organization.
