The health care advisory firm has purchased the AI solutions developer to create a new unit, Chartis Leap AI Studio, focused on building bespoke technology for health care organizations.

Chartis, a consulting firm specializing in the health care sector, announced it has acquired Leap AI, a company that develops artificial intelligence-driven products and solutions. The move is intended to strengthen Chartis's ability to provide custom AI and technology transformation services to its health care clients.

The acquisition comes as AI tools become more widely adopted across the health care industry. According to Chartis Chief AI & Digital Officer Tom Kiesau, the deal is a response to the limitations of generic AI platforms. "As AI becomes industrialized across health care, organizations risk losing the ability to innovate against their unique friction points. Off-the-shelf platforms can't match solutions built around an organization's specific challenges, data and operations," Kiesau stated.

As part of the integration, senior leaders from Leap AI will join the Chartis Center for AI & Digital Transformation to form a new entity branded as Chartis Leap AI Studio. This new unit will be responsible for designing and implementing technology and AI-based solutions for clients.

Ali Paasimaa, former leader at Leap AI and now Senior Partner and Head of Chartis Leap AI, commented on the combination of capabilities. "By combining [Chartis's] foundation with Leap AI's entrepreneurial energy and technical depth, we'll deliver AI solutions that meaningfully improve how health care organizations operate and how patients experience care," Paasimaa said. The acquisition reflects a broader trend of consulting firms buying specialized technology companies to quickly integrate in-demand capabilities.
