Tim Puthoff, Managing Director, Healthcare Management Partners.

Former hospital system CEO brings over three decades of operational and management experience to the Nashville-based advisory firm's health care restructuring practice.

Healthcare Management Partners (HMP), a financial advisory and turnaround management firm, has hired former hospital executive Tim Puthoff as a Managing Director. The appointment brings a seasoned operator into the firm's consulting ranks as it marks its 20th year in business.

Puthoff has more than 30 years of experience in hospital operations, having served in CEO-level positions at facilities owned by major operators such as Community Health Systems and HCA Healthcare. Most recently, he managed the ownership transition of the St. Vincent's medical system in Birmingham, Alabama, from Ascension to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

His background in direct hospital management is expected to be applied to HMP's work with health care organizations facing financial and operational difficulties.

"I've spent my career helping lead hospitals to success in financial performance, quality and regulatory compliance," Puthoff said in a statement. "I'm excited to bring my experience to the team at Healthcare Management Partners."

Firm leadership indicated that Puthoff will be a key figure in its hospital restructuring assignments. His experience is seen as an asset for clients needing to address inefficiencies, reduce expenses and improve service delivery.

"His deep experience and his passion for the industry make him the ideal professional to lead our hospital restructuring assignments," said Derek Pierce, a Managing Director at HMP.

The hire also connects to the firm's HMP Senior Solutions division, which provides management for senior living and skilled nursing facilities. Shawn O'Conner, president and CEO of the division, noted Puthoff's understanding of the link between post-acute care, patient outcomes and reduced hospital readmission costs.

Puthoff holds a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida. He is a past vice president of the Alabama Hospital Association's Birmingham Regional Council and has served on multiple community and healthcare-related boards.
