The new Americas-focused practice aims to address operational complexity and market pressures in capital-intensive industries by providing operations strategy and performance improvement services.
EFESO Management Consultants announced the formation of a new Mining, Metals & Minerals practice in the Americas, appointing 30-year industry veteran James C. Metro as Partner to lead the new group.
The launch is intended to expand the firm's expertise in capital-intensive sectors that are currently navigating significant market pressures. According to a company statement, these challenges include supply chain localization, cost volatility, and increasing expectations around safety and ESG performance.

Metro joins the firm with three decades of global experience. His background includes leading multisite mining turnarounds, optimizing large-scale mineral processing operations, and strengthening capital portfolio governance for clients.
The new practice will focus on helping organizations stabilize operations, align planning with execution, and embed disciplined routines to improve performance. "Mining and metals organizations operate in environments where small instabilities can create disproportionate losses in throughput, cost, safety exposure and cash," Metro stated. He added that the firm's model involves working side-by-side with client teams from the C-suite to the field.
This strategic expansion is timed with growing investment in critical minerals, materials for the energy transition, and efforts to build more resilient domestic supply chains. The practice will support clients managing capital expansion, operational complexity, and margin pressure across their global operations.
