Matthew Mohwinkel, Managing Director, Berkeley Research Group.

The firm has added the 25-year veteran as a managing director to support growth in its disputes, investigations and compliance practices, with a focus on clients in highly regulated industries.

Berkeley Research Group (BRG) has announced it has hired Matthew Mohwinkel as a managing director in its Business Development group. The appointment is part of the firm's ongoing expansion of its business development capabilities for complex legal and regulatory matters.

Mohwinkel brings more than 25 years of experience advising both corporate entities and law firms on compliance programs, internal and government investigations, and commercial litigation. His background includes working directly with legal, compliance, and executive teams to manage regulatory exposure and assemble advisory resources. This move comes after the recent hire of Vijay Bondada, indicating a focused investment by BRG in strengthening its client support infrastructure, particularly within the financial services, health care, life sciences and technology sectors.

"Matt's experience working at the intersection of corporate legal departments, law firms and advisory teams gives him a unique perspective on what clients truly need," said Ray Kolls, a managing director and global co-leader of BRG's Economics, Disputes & Investigations business line. "His legal background, deep relationships and industry knowledge—particularly in health care and life sciences—make him an outstanding addition to our growing business development team."

Prior to joining BRG, Mohwinkel held in-house legal and compliance positions at three global technology companies. He also has experience in senior business development roles at other global consulting firms, where he led programs focused on investigations for multinational organizations.

"Throughout my career, I've seen how critical it is for clients to have access to the right expertise at the right time," said Mohwinkel. He noted that BRG's "collaborative culture and multidisciplinary approach" were key factors in his decision to join the firm.

Mohwinkel received his JD from the University of Iowa College of Law and his BA from Saint Olaf College.
