Rachel Frey, Chief Communications Officer, Accenture.
The veteran communications leader will step into the newly established position, reporting directly to CEO Julie Sweet and joining the firm's Global Management Committee.
Accenture has appointed Rachel Frey to the newly created role of chief communications officer, effective immediately. Frey, who previously served as the firm's global head of Corporate Communications, will now report to Accenture Chair and CEO Julie Sweet and has been named to the company's Global Management Committee.
With more than two decades of communications experience, Frey is an internal promotion for the high-profile position. In her prior role, she was responsible for the company's external media relations and developing a communications strategy centered on positioning Accenture in the field of AI-driven business transformation.
"With her extensive experience at Accenture, Rachel brings a deep understanding of our business, people and impact as well as a strong track record of helping us engage and connect with our external stakeholders," said Julie Sweet in a statement announcing the appointment.
The creation of the CCO position appears to consolidate several key functions under a single leader. Frey's new mandate includes oversight of internal communications, global media relations, financial communications, public affairs, and crisis management. This move centralizes the firm's messaging strategy as it navigates a period of significant industry change.
"Communications are central to how we build trust, advance our strategy and help our clients and our people navigate reinvention with clarity and confidence," Frey stated.
