Michael McGillicuddy brings over 28 years of experience in financial crime and federal law enforcement to his new role as a Managing Director.
FTI Consulting has appointed Michael McGillicuddy, a former Supervisory Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as a Managing Director in its Risk & Investigations practice. In his new role, McGillicuddy will assist clients with complex financial crime investigations and related litigation.
McGillicuddy joins the firm after a long career in federal law enforcement where he managed and led investigations into a wide variety of economic crimes, including securities fraud, cryptocurrency schemes, money laundering, and public corruption. During his time at FBI Headquarters, he established the bureau's first dedicated money laundering unit and was responsible for national programs focused on financial institution fraud and asset forfeiture. His work also involved developing capabilities to address virtual currency-related crime, including the implementation of cryptocurrency tracing tools across FBI field offices.
This move marks a return to the private sector for McGillicuddy, who was previously a Director at Charles River Associates. In that role, he provided valuation and litigation support services, focusing on intellectual property and commercial disputes. His work included calculating economic damages, conducting reasonable royalty analyses, and providing expert witness testimony.
McGillicuddy is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner, holding a B.B.A. in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame. His background combines public sector investigative leadership with private sector consulting experience, equipping him to translate complex financial data for use in legal, regulatory, and corporate settings.
