Firm, founded by industry veteran Julia King, aims to connect agricultural companies with senior-level expertise without the cost of a full-time hire.

A new consulting firm named Calibrate has launched, focusing exclusively on providing fractional executive services to the agriculture industry. The Kansas City-based firm was established to address a growing need among agribusinesses for experienced leadership to navigate complex challenges related to growth, succession planning, and operations in a volatile market.

Calibrate's model allows companies to engage seasoned executives for specific projects or transitional periods without the financial commitment of a permanent C-suite hire. The firm was founded by Julia King, a business leader with experience in operations, finance, and growth strategy within the agriculture sector.

"Agribusinesses know they need experienced leadership to navigate change, but for many, hiring a team of full-time executives isn't practical," said King in a prepared statement. "Calibrate delivers the right expertise at the right moment."

The firm is launching with a roster of consultants who have held executive roles at seed, chemical, agtech, and manufacturing companies. Engagements are designed to be flexible and can include placing fractional executives in strategy, operations, finance, or marketing roles, as well as providing on-demand leadership during periods of scaling, fundraising, or restructuring.

To support its go-to-market strategy, Calibrate has formed partnerships with two established service providers in the agricultural space. The firm will receive strategic support from AdFarm, a North American agri-marketing agency, and will collaborate with Petersen & Company, a Kansas City firm that provides strategic services to agricultural associations.

"The ability to refer our clients in need of business consultancy to Calibrate—and for AdFarm to provide our strategic marketing support to Calibrate clients—is the perfect partnership," said Ben Graham, president of AdFarm.

In addition to serving clients, Calibrate's platform offers an alternative career path for experienced agriculture executives who wish to move into consulting without the administrative responsibilities of establishing a solo practice.

Calibrate's management team includes Aimee Churchill as operations lead, Amy DuBois as project management lead, and Haley Mallory as marketing lead.
