Former HSBC and New York Fed communications head joins the firm's Strategic Communications segment as a Managing Director in New York, focusing on corporate positioning and reputation management.

FTI Consulting has appointed Matt Ward as a Managing Director within its Strategic Communications segment. Based in New York, Ward will focus on expanding the firm's advisory capabilities for financial services clients in areas such as corporate positioning and reputation management.

In his new role, Ward will advise banking clients on executive positioning, crisis response, transformation strategy and digital reputation. According to the firm, he will leverage FTI Consulting's proprietary AI capabilities to help clients navigate complex communications challenges.

Ward brings nearly two decades of experience from both the private and public sectors. He joins FTI from Corebridge Financial, where he served as Head of Communications following its initial public offering. Prior to that, he was the Head of U.S. Communications and Americas Corporate Media Relations for HSBC, where he was a member of the U.S. executive committee and guided the bank's communications through strategic repositioning, business exits, and leadership transitions.

His background also includes a tenure as the Associate Director of Media Relations and Public Affairs at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. There, he developed communications strategies focused on mitigating reputational risks and rebuilding trust in the wake of the financial crisis.

"Companies and executives in the highly regulated financial services sector need to be able to effectively leverage rapidly evolving technologies to reach all stakeholders with messages that resonate," said Josh Drobnyk, Americas Head of Financial Services within FTI Consulting's Strategic Communications segment. Drobnyk noted that Ward's experience enhances the firm's ability to provide a comprehensive suite of services.
