The new tool, integrated into the firm's RSM Luca digital audit ecosystem, is designed to provide real-time, vetted guidance to more than 4,000 assurance professionals.

RSM US has announced the launch of Ask Luca, a generative AI tool aimed at streamlining the research process for its audit teams. The tool functions as an intelligent assistant within the firm's existing digital audit platform, RSM Luca, providing on-demand access to the firm's internal library of assurance manuals, practice aids and technical accounting guides.

The rollout is timed to coincide with the audit profession's busy season, a period where quick and accurate access to complex information is essential for efficiency. According to the firm, Ask Luca is designed to reduce research time by delivering vetted insights in seconds, allowing auditors to navigate technical issues more effectively.

This development is part of RSM's broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its core services. The firm previously announced a $1 billion investment over three years to accelerate its AI initiatives. Ask Luca represents a tangible product of that investment, focusing on enhancing the capabilities of its assurance professionals rather than replacing them.

RSM frames its AI strategy around a "human-in-the-loop" principle, where technology augments the critical thinking and professional judgment of its auditors. "While our auditors' professional judgment, experience and perspectives are critical to the firm's audit process, the enhanced capabilities provided through the use of tools powered by Generative AI enable our auditors to analyze more comprehensive data and provide deeper insights," said Troy Merkel, RSM Assurance Digital Leader.

The move reflects a wider trend across the consulting and professional services industry, where firms are increasingly leveraging AI to automate routine tasks, analyze large datasets and provide more value-added insights to clients.

"The technological landscape is evolving rapidly, and RSM is advancing just as quickly," stated Sergio de la Fe, RSM enterprise digital leader. He noted that the firm plans to continue integrating intelligent agent capabilities across its digital ecosystem.
