Appointment is aimed at expanding the firm's Private Equity practice by leveraging Clayton's experience in M&A and portfolio company transformation.

CrossCountry Consulting has appointed Jim Clayton, a former principal at BDO, to its Advisory Council. In his new role, Clayton will provide strategic guidance for the firm’s national Private Equity practice, focusing on services for the finance departments of portfolio companies.

Clayton brings experience from leadership roles in professional services centered on the private equity and technology sectors. His background includes leading management consulting teams at BDO, where he also co-led its Private Equity Industry Group. Prior to that, he founded the Business Advisory practice for mid-market private equity firms at AC Lordi. His expertise covers M&A execution, technology enablement, and process optimization across industries including software, healthcare, and manufacturing.

The move comes as consulting firms position themselves to assist private equity clients with operational improvements. “In times like these, Private Equity needs to be very disciplined and operationally focused to drive value creation," said Erik Linn, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of CrossCountry Consulting. Linn noted that Clayton's experience will support the firm as it works with portfolio support teams and operating partners to grow its Private Equity practice.

Clayton commented on the timing of his appointment, pointing to market conditions as a source of future opportunity. “The number of deferred transactions in this space creates exciting market opportunities in the coming years for a firm like CrossCountry,” Clayton stated. He added that he will work with the team to enhance its offerings for clients in a dynamic market.
