Nichole Minice is Regional Managing Director for Protiviti’s U.S. Western Region, the Market Leader for Protiviti Phoenix and a managing director in the Internal Audit and Financial Advisory Business Process practice. She is responsible for six regional offices and approximately 700 employees, providing both strategic direction and operational management. With 25 years of experience in audit, Nichole has worked with clients across various industries and company sizes, with specialized experience in consumer products and services. She currently holds the role of Global Airline Industry leader at the firm. Her strengths include supporting organizations in risk management, process efficiency, and communication with executive leadership and audit committees. Nichole is a former member of Protiviti’s Executive Team Advisory Council, which is determined via a global internal nomination process that includes the firm’s leaders from various solutions, industries and regions. Nichole is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), accredited Quality Assessment Validator and has earned certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Arizona University and participates actively in The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?
My work as a member of Protiviti’s Executive Team Advisory Council stands out as one of my greatest achievements. As a member, I had the unique privilege of collaborating with leaders from various solutions, industries and regions to address evolving trends and challenges in our business landscape. Providing advice and insights to the Executive Team was an honor that validated my ability to think creatively and strategically while advocating for the needs of both clients and team members.
What’s the best advice—consulting or otherwise—you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve ever received is that the most significant growth occurs when you step outside your comfort zone. Embracing discomfort has been transformative in my career, enabling me to pursue various roles such as Market Lead, Regional Managing Director, and positions on the Executive Advisory Council and other internal committees. By leaning into challenges rather than shying away, I’ve gained valuable skills, expanded my network and increased my confidence. This advice has become a guiding principle in my personal and professional life, reminding me that growth lies beyond the boundaries of comfort.
What advice would you give to a female consultant just beginning her career?
To a female consultant starting her career, my advice is to embrace authenticity and confidence. Build your foundation by developing strong technical skills and seeking opportunities to learn from diverse projects and teams. Don’t hesitate to ask questions – it’s a sign of curiosity and growth, not weakness. Surround yourself with mentors and peers who inspire and challenge you, and actively seek feedback to refine your skills. Cultivate strong relationships by understanding the importance of cultural alignment and clear communication. Clients and colleagues value trust and collaboration, so focus on building connections that go beyond transactional interactions. Be adaptable – consulting is dynamic, and the ability to navigate change will set you apart. Advocate for yourself and others. Share your ideas confidently and take ownership of your work. At the same time, champion innovation and be open to adopting new tools and approaches. Your willingness to lead by example will inspire others. Finally, remember that success is not just about achieving goals but also about maintaining balance. Prioritize your well-being, and don’t lose sight of your values. Consulting is a rewarding career path, and your unique perspective as a woman will bring immense value to your clients and teams.
