Jennifer Marietta-Westberg, Vice President, Cornerstone Research

Jennifer Marietta-Westberg heads Cornerstone Research’s Washington, DC, office and co-heads the firm’s corporate and government investigations practice. She consults on economic and financial issues in litigation, addressing financial reporting, asset management, trading, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions issues. As an expert witness, Dr. Marietta-Westberg testifies on securities class actions, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), general damages and corporate governance matters. She also supports respondents in enforcement actions involving the Department of Justice and SEC.

Dr. Marietta-Westberg has a strong background in regulatory policy. She chaired the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee (IAC) and served on the board of directors at the Institute for Law and Economics, University of Pennsylvania. She worked at the SEC for 10 years, as deputy chief economist and deputy director, Division of Economic and Risk Analysis. There, she managed economic analysis to support Commission policy and rulemaking involving asset management, broker-dealers and market microstructure. Her expertise and experience have equipped her to lead large teams supporting academic and industry experts at all stages of litigation, including trial. Dr. Marietta-Westberg holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and a B.A. with honors from the University of Southern Connecticut.
