HKA has announced two senior appointments to its forensic practices, adding Dr. Mohammad Reza Jafari as a principal in Forensic Engineering and Guler Wiefling as a partner in Forensic Accounting and Investigations.

Dr. Mohammad Reza Jafari, Principal, HKA.

Dr. Mohammad Reza Jafari, a globally recognized expert in geotechnical and tunnel engineering with more than 36 years of international experience, will join HKA’s forensic engineering team to investigate infrastructure failures, construction defects and geotechnical anomalies that inform litigation, insurance claims and dispute resolution across transportation, water and underground construction sectors.

Dr. Jafari’s background includes leading investigations into tunnel collapses, ground movement and foundation failures, applying advanced numerical modeling and field-data analysis, and contributing to multibillion-dollar infrastructure programs in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australia. He holds a Ph.D. in geotechnical engineering from the University of New South Wales and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge and MITHKA.

Guler Wiefling, Partner, HKA.

Guler Wiefling joins HKA’s Forensic Accounting and Investigations practices in Houston as a partner, bringing more than two decades of experience in financial‑statement fraud investigations, misappropriation of assets, white‑collar crime, anti‑bribery and anti‑corruption compliance, and internal‑control assessments.

Wiefling’s work has included domestic and international engagements across government and private sectors, serving as an independent monitor and advising boards and agencies on strengthening internal controls and remediation strategies; she holds an MBA in finance from the University of St. Thomas and is a Certified Fraud Examiner, fluent in Turkish.

HKA executives welcomed both hires, saying Jafari’s technical depth in tunnels and geotechnical engineering and Wiefling’s forensic accounting and compliance expertise will strengthen the firm’s ability to support clients in high‑stakes disputes and complex investigations.

Both appointments expand HKA’s capacity to deliver multidisciplinary forensic services that combine engineering analysis and financial forensics to resolve disputes, assign liability and support remediation and compliance efforts.
