Risk mitigation and dispute resolution consultancy HKA has announced that David Paris has joined its Intellectual Property (IP) practice as a Principal in Washington, D.C.

Paris brings more than 35 years of experience as an economist and business consultant, specializing in the financial aspects of complex commercial disputes. His work covers damages, valuation, and competition issues across domestic and international courts, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.

"We are thrilled to welcome David to HKA," said Michael Lasinski, a Partner at the firm. "His deep expertise in IP damages and economic consulting, combined with his extensive testimony experience, will significantly enhance our capabilities and value to clients."

Paris's practice areas include patent, trademark, and copyright infringement; trade secret misappropriation; and licensing disputes. He also advises clients on IP strategy, licensing negotiations, and royalty audits. He has provided expert testimony on damages and economic issues in U.S. District Courts and before the American Arbitration Association and the International Trade Commission, addressing topics such as lost profits, reasonable royalty, and unjust enrichment.

Paris holds a Master of Arts in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from George Washington University. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Licensing Executives Society.
