CMAG: What characteristics and elements would you attribute to your firm’s inclusion as a Best Firm to Work For?
At West Monroe, our inclusion as a Best Firm to Work For begins and ends with our culture. We are a people-first firm with a mission to develop the next generation of leaders. Our employee ownership model fosters pride in our work, accountability for outcomes, and a spirit of collaboration across teams—all in service of delivering real impact for our clients and communities. West Monroe is a place where people don’t just do great work—they build lasting careers.
We fully embody our mission of developing the next generation of leaders by creating an environment where growth is both expected and supported. From day one, employees are entrusted with meaningful responsibility and surrounded with mentorship, resources and opportunities to stretch themselves. Many of our leaders have risen through the ranks here, a testament to both the complex challenges we solve for clients and the culture of growth we’ve cultivated for our people.
What really makes us different, though, is how much our people genuinely enjoy working with one another. Our culture is grounded in trust, respect and care—whether that’s showing up for each other in moments that matter, celebrating successes together, or building authentic connections beyond project work.
We also invest in programs that strengthen our culture and help people thrive outside traditional client work. Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) build community and elevate diverse voices across the firm. The Fischer Global Service Fellowship provides employees with the opportunity to take time away from client projects and dedicate their skills to nonprofit organizations around the world. From professional development to purpose-driven service, these initiatives reinforce that West Monroe is not just a place to work—it’s a place to belong and grow.
CMAG: Are there any specific programs or initiatives that contributed to you being included as a Best Firm?
Several signature programs and initiatives have contributed to West Monroe’s recognition as a Best Firm to Work For. Each reflects our belief that culture and career development go hand in hand—and that our people thrive when they feel empowered, supported and connected. One hallmark is the Fischer Global Service Fellowship, which enables employees to step away from client work to dedicate their skills to nonprofit organizations around the world. The program not only drives meaningful social impact but also broadens perspectives and strengthens leadership skills. Innovation is another defining element of our culture.
Through our annual Innovation Week, employees across all levels of the firm are encouraged to pitch bold ideas in a competitive format. Many of these concepts evolve into real solutions and assets for clients, underscoring our conviction that innovation can come from anywhere in the organization. We also prioritize belonging and inclusion. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) foster connection, mentorship and advocacy, while ensuring diverse voices are heard and elevated. Our Chiefs Program creates unique opportunities for employees to step into leadership roles outside of their client work. Inspired by the “Chief of Anything” concept, the program empowers people to become “chiefs” of areas they’re passionate about—ranging from professional interests to lighter cultural touchpoints like being the firm’s “Chief Hot Sauce Officer.”
We also recognize that our people have full lives outside of West Monroe, and our hybrid work environment gives employees the ability to balance personal and professional commitments in ways that work best for them. Finally, transparency and accountability are core to how we operate. Leaders regularly host listening sessions and office tours to engage directly with employees, gather feedback, and shape the firm’s direction together. These open conversations ensure every employee has a voice in how West Monroe continues to grow.
CMAG: In describing your firm, what would you say sets it apart from other consulting firms?
What sets West Monroe apart is that we’re not built like a traditional consulting firm. We see ourselves as a next-generation consulting firm: practical, hands-on, and focused on delivering real results—not jargon or flashy slide decks. Clients tell us they value that straightforward approach and the fact that our teams are approachable, collaborative, and the kind of people you’d actually want to grab a drink with. The feedback we hear most often from people who join us is that West Monroe offers a rare balance. We’re large enough to take on complex, high-stakes work—helping clients tackle everything from multi-billion-dollar M&A integrations to reinventing how utilities deliver energy or how financial services firms use technology to compete. At the same time, we’re small enough to avoid the bureaucracy that slows bigger firms. That gives our people room to be entrepreneurial, to innovate, and to see their ideas quickly come to life. And just as important, our culture sets us apart. People come to West Monroe because they want to grow as leaders—and they stay because they enjoy the work and genuinely like the people they’re doing it with.
CMAG: Where your workforce is concerned, what would you say your priorities look like for the upcoming year and beyond?
Our workforce priorities for the year ahead focus on training, development and growth—true to our mission of building the next generation of leaders. We’ll continue to invest heavily in giving our people the skills, mentorship, and experiences they need to thrive and grow their careers here. That commitment to development has always been central to West Monroe, and it will remain a top priority as we look to the future. At the same time, we’re hiring across multiple areas of the firm to meet increasing client demand. Check out our careers section for our current open roles.
