CMAG: What characteristics and elements would you attribute to your firm’s inclusion as a Best Firm to Work For?
Greencastle’s recognition as a Best Firm to Work For is rooted in its unique culture, mission-driven mindset and commitment to execution. As a firm composed entirely of military veterans, we foster a workplace grounded in discipline, integrity and mutual accountability. Our mission-first approach means every project is treated with urgency, clarity and a focus on results. We empower our people to lead, self-manage and take ownership—trusting them to do the right thing without micromanagement. This creates a culture of transparency, trust, and open communication where honest feedback is valued. Camaraderie is core to who we are; we work with people we’d go to war with - literally and figuratively - creating a strong sense of unity and shared purpose. At Greencastle, every team member contributes directly to delivering impact, not just recommendations. We value grit, adaptability and continuous growth, eliminating bureaucracy and focusing on progress. Our people find meaning in the work we do and pride in the team they’re a part of—making Greencastle not just a place to work, but a place to belong.
CMAG: Are there any specific programs or initiatives that contributed to you being included as a Best Firm?
Our inclusion as a Best Firm to Work For is not the result of a single program, it’s the collective impact of multiple, intentionally aligned initiatives that shape our culture. From leadership development and mentorship to performance feedback, community service and team-building events, each program plays a role. What sets Greencastle apart is our commitment to making these efforts consistent, integrated and meaningful. We don’t treat culture as a checkbox; it’s something we build and reinforce daily. Every initiative is designed to support our people, empower self-leadership, and foster trust across the team. It’s the dedication to all of these programs working in unison (not one in isolation) that drives engagement, accountability, and a deep sense of belonging. That deliberate, coordinated approach is what makes Greencastle a truly exceptional place to work.
CMAG: In describing your firm, what would you say sets it apart from other consulting firms?
Greencastle stands apart from other consulting firms because we focus on what matters most - execution. While many firms stop at recommendations, we lead the work through to completion. That difference is critical in high-stakes environments like utilities, where failure to execute can have real consequences. Founded and operated by U.S. military veterans, Greencastle brings a unique mindset to every engagement: disciplined, adaptable, mission-driven and accountable.
Our consultants embed directly with client teams, working side by side to lead change, solve problems and deliver measurable outcomes. We don’t add noise. We bring clarity, momentum and results. What makes this different is that strategy alone doesn’t create value. Execution does. Many organizations are overwhelmed with priorities, internal friction or slow decision-making. Greencastle steps in with focus and urgency, helping teams move faster, align better and make real progress.
Our military background isn’t just a credential - it’s our competitive advantage. Veterans know how to lead under pressure, stay mission-focused and operate in complex, changing environments. That ethos shapes how we show up for our clients: no excuses, no delays, no missed expectations. In short,
Greencastle isn’t just another consulting firm. We’re execution specialists who lead from within. We don’t just tell clients what to do, we help them do it. And in industries where execution is everything, that’s not just different. It’s essential.
CMAG: Where your workforce is concerned, what would you say your priorities look like for the upcoming year and beyond?
In short, our workforce strategy centers on creating leaders who execute, lead from the front, and drive lasting impact—for our clients, our firm and each other. More specifically, our top workforce priority for the coming year and beyond is developing the next generation of leaders. Individuals who can think strategically, execute decisively and lead with integrity.
As Greencastle continues to grow, we know that sustained success depends not only on hiring exceptional talent, but on building leaders from within who can carry our values, culture and execution mindset forward. We’re focusing on structured leadership development at every level. That includes mentorship from senior consultants, targeted training programs and real-world stretch assignments that put emerging leaders in positions of responsibility. We believe leadership is not about title - it’s about mindset, accountability, and the ability to influence outcomes. By giving our people opportunities to lead client initiatives, navigate ambiguity and make critical decisions, we accelerate their growth and deepen their impact. Just as important is fostering a culture where leaders are expected to develop other leaders. We prioritize knowledge sharing, peer coaching and cross-functional collaboration to ensure leadership isn’t concentrated at the top but embedded throughout the firm.
Our veteran foundation gives us a strong base: mission focus, trust and adaptability. Now, we’re building on that by expanding leadership capacity across the organization. Looking ahead, we see leadership not as a static destination but as an evolving capability. We’ll continue investing in tools, frameworks, and feedback mechanisms that help our people lead in complex, fast-moving environments. Whether they’re guiding a client transformation or mentoring a new hire, our goal is clear: equip every team member with the skills, confidence, and perspective to lead with purpose.
CMAG: What opportunities do you see as the most promising?
In the year ahead and beyond, our workforce priority is to develop leaders who can help utility clients execute with speed, clarity and resilience - leaders who understand the industry’s complexity and can deliver results in high-stakes environments. Utility leaders today face mounting pressure to modernize infrastructure, enhance the customer experience, meet regulatory demands and drive operational efficiency; all while managing risk and workforce transitions.
These goals require more than vision; they demand disciplined, execution-ready leadership that can navigate ambiguity and align cross-functional teams. That’s where Greencastle’s strengths align directly with what utilities need. Our all-veteran workforce brings a mission-first mindset, comfort with complexity, and an unwavering focus on follow-through. As we look to the future, we’re investing in building more of that leadership internally - scaling our ability to embed trusted, execution-oriented leaders across client initiatives. We’re prioritizing hands-on leadership development, mentorship and on-the-job experience. We give emerging leaders real responsibility early through leading work streams, managing client relationships and driving outcomes under pressure.
Our approach is rooted in accountability, adaptability and service; core values that utilities increasingly demand in their transformation partners. At the same time, we’re reinforcing a culture where leadership is expected at all levels. Whether guiding a customer experience redesign, overseeing a grid modernization project, or streamlining regulatory compliance, our people lead from within—not above. By growing this next generation of leaders, we position Greencastle to help utilities meet their most critical challenges, not just with strategy, but with action. That’s how we deliver lasting impact and how we’ll keep doing it.
CMAG: What market forces do you see as the most challenging?
The most challenging obstacles for Greencastle in the next year center on scaling without compromising culture, adapting to evolving client demands, and growing internal leadership capacity to match rising opportunity.
- Scaling with Consistency As demand increases - particularly from utilities and infrastructure clients - Greencastle must grow its bench without losing the core of what makes it effective: mission-focus, accountability and execution discipline. Maintaining a 100% veteran workforce while expanding talent fast enough to meet project volume is a key constraint and priority.
- Evolving Client Expectations Clients are shifting from siloed projects to broader, enterprise-level transformations. They expect not only but integrated teams that can lead across change management, technology enablement and customer experience. Greencastle must continue to expand its capabilities while staying true to its execution-first DNA.
- Leadership Development at Scale Sustained growth requires more leaders - not just more consultants. Developing emerging talent into trusted advisors who can manage complexity, influence outcomes, and grow client relationships is both a challenge and a strategic imperative.
- Maintaining Operational Focus in a Changing Market With shifting regulatory environments, increased infrastructure investment and rising client urgency, staying focused on what Greencastle does best - execution - is critical. Avoiding dilution of services or overextension will be key to preserving quality and reputation.
- Balancing Innovation with Discipline Clients expect agility and fresh thinking, but also proven, disciplined execution. Greencastle must continue to evolve its tools and approaches without losing the rigor that defines its work.
Being recognized as a Best Firm to Work For reinforces what we already believe internally - that Greencastle is a place where people feel valued, trusted and empowered to lead. For our employees, this honor validates their experience and strengthens pride in being part of a high-performing, mission-driven team. It also reinforces our commitment to maintaining a culture where accountability, growth and camaraderie thrive.
For the firm overall, the recognition helps attract top-tier talent - especially fellow veterans looking for meaningful work in the private sector. It strengthens our employer brand and supports retention by showing that culture is not just a talking point, but a lived value.
For clients, it signals stability, quality and alignment. A firm that takes care of its people is better positioned to take care of its clients. It gives clients confidence that the consultants embedded in their teams are engaged, motivated, and supported by a strong culture. In short, this recognition affirms that Greencastle is not only a trusted execution partner - but also a firm that lives its values from the inside out.
