CMAG: What characteristics and elements would you attribute to your firm’s inclusion as a Best Firm to Work For?
At the heart of our firm’s recognition as a Best Firm to Work For is our human-centered culture. We intentionally foster an environment of psychological safety, trust and continuous learning. Our consulting teams are driven by purpose, empowered by autonomy, and supported by a strong community. We blend high performance with high empathy. Consultants bring their full selves to work, which means innovating at the edge of AI, co-creating with clients in Cognizant Innovation labs, or leading grassroots impact initiatives. Our culture celebrates curiosity over credentials, collaboration over competition and character over conformity. We have institutionalized “check-in” cultures that prioritize ongoing, almost daily: dialogue over annual reviews. Our consultants receive 1:1 mentoring, access to curated learning journeys, and clear, flexible career pathways. The result is a workplace where people are seen, heard and stretched: not just for billable value, but for who they are becoming. This honor reflects our belief that consulting is not just a job: it’s a platform for building meaning, mastery and impact. When firms lead with people-first practices, business excellence naturally follows.
CMAG: Are there any specific programs or initiatives that contributed to you being included as a Best Firm?
Several key initiatives have fueled our recognition, each rooted in the belief that consulting is an apprenticeship model, and growth is both structured and situational. Our Consulting Talent Engagement DNA offers clear frameworks for skill development, internal mobility and feedback. It’s complemented by 1:1 coaching by Principals and Partners, who actively invest in shaping next-gen consultants: not just reviewing deliverables but developing leadership mindset. We’ve fostered a culture of continuous learning by offering bite-sized upskilling through on-demand platforms, structured certifications in AI, ESG and cloud consulting and cohort-based learning led by industry practitioners. This is complemented by Principal or Partner-led on-the-job learning that encourages co-creation. Real-time feedback loops have replaced traditional hierarchies. New joiners shadow experienced leaders, showcase expertise in their chosen domains, participate in innovation co-creation sessions, and are encouraged to voice bold ideas.
Our AI Innovation Labs give consultants hands-on exposure to frontier technologies, enabling them to experiment, prototype, and contribute to original IP. Simultaneously, our Cognizant Garage model empowers cross-functional teams to engage in design sprints, encouraging creativity, empathy and fast iteration. Grassroots innovation is also celebrated: our firm actively invites bottom-up ideas and funds them through internal hackathons (i.e., Vibe Coding), seed grants and leadership exposure. Together, these programs form a supportive ecosystem where growth is intentional, mentorship is personal, and every consultant is seen as a future leader. This is not just why people stay, but why they thrive.
CMAG: In describing your firm, what would you say sets it apart from other consulting firms?
What sets our firm apart is not just what we do, but it’s how we show up. We operate at the intersection of innovation and humility, powered by a belief in wisdom over ego. We don’t walk into client rooms with the arrogance of knowledge, but with the humility to co-create, listen and adapt. Our consultants bring deep domain, functional and technical skills, but also emotional intelligence, storytelling and design/system thinking. We thrive in composite domains, where AI meets HR, or ESG meets business, and we embrace the ambiguity that comes with solving real-world problems that don’t fit in neat boxes.
We are also purpose-driven. Whether designing an AI-driven people strategy or launching a health care equity accelerator, our teams usually ask “Whom are we serving? Why does this matter?” The sense of intent differentiates us in the impact and integrity. Internally, we nurture a culture of psychological safety, grassroots innovation and multi-generational mentorship. Externally, we deliver with precision and care, earning our clients’ trust not just through capability, but through consistency and character. As part of Cognizant, we’re large enough to scale globally, yet agile enough to personalize experiences for every client and consultant. It’s this balance of head and heart, scale and intimacy, boldness and humility that makes our firm not just different, but deeply human.
CMAG: Where your workforce is concerned, what would you say your priorities look like for the upcoming year and beyond?
As we look to the year ahead, our workforce priorities center around adaptability, inclusion and human-AI synergy. The consulting talent model is rapidly evolving, and so are we. We are enabling consultants to thrive in a composite world where industry-domain-tech fluency, AI fluency and human empathy converge. Our upskilling strategy is built around personalized learning journeys in AI, behavioral science and sustainability, equipping consultants not just to keep pace with change, but to lead it. We’re also reimagining career mobility, offering internal marketplaces and borderless teaming so people can pivot, stretch, and find meaning across roles and geographies. We look forward to investing more deeply in a coaching culture, ensuring everyone, regardless of level, has access to personalized development and leadership visibility. Inclusion remains core.
Beyond DEI metrics, we’re focused on belonging: creating environments where authenticity is rewarded, and diverse perspectives fuel innovation. From neurodiversity hiring pilots to women-in-tech accelerators, we’re expanding access to opportunity for all. Perhaps most importantly, we recognize that well-being is no longer a “perk”: it’s a productivity enabler and a moral imperative. We are scaling trauma-informed leadership practices, resilience coaching, and psychological safety labs to support the whole consultant, not just the professional. In short, our workforce strategy is rooted in one promise: We will grow with you, not despite you. And in a world defined by rapid shifts, we believe the firms that win will be those that never stop investing in their people.
CMAG: What opportunities do you see as the most promising?
The most promising opportunities lie at the intersection of AI-led consulting, original IP creation, and composite domain innovation where business, technology, behavioral science and purpose-driven transformation converge.AI is no longer a tool but an enabler of exponential change. From intelligent automation to large language models and generative design, we see an opportunity to not just implement AI but reimagine business models, workforce strategies and value chains. Consulting firms that can orchestrate talent, tools, and trust in this space will lead the next era. Another high-potential space is original work and IP creation. Clients increasingly seek unique, contextualized solutions, not templates. Firms that incubate proprietary assets powered by internal accelerators, AI labs and garage-style experimentation will generate outsized client impact and sustainable differentiation. Composite domains are where we believe the future lies: integrating functional consulting, deep technology, and industry expertise to solve complex, layered problems. For instance, combining HCM advisory with behavioral science, AI-driven workforce analytics, and ESG strategy creates holistic impact across talent, compliance and performance. This domain fusion is a space we’re actively investing in. Lastly, consciousness-informed consulting is emerging as a frontier using data, empathy, and psychological insights to redesign systems that serve not just business metrics, but human well-being. These opportunities don’t just represent market trends, they align with our firm’s DNA- innovation, originality and empathy. The future of consulting belongs to those who cannot only predict change, but help shape it responsibly, boldly and inclusively.
CMAG: What market forces do you see as the most challenging?
While the consulting landscape is full of potential, we remain mindful of several disruptive market forces that challenge even the most mature firms. First- is the talent paradox. While AI and automation are growing rapidly, there's a critical shortage of consultants who possess both domain expertise and next-gen skills like prompt engineering, AI governance or behavioral analytics. Attracting, upskilling, and retaining such hybrid talent is no longer an HR issue, it’s a boardroom priority. Second- the Macroeconomic volatility and global uncertainty including geopolitical tensions, inflation, and shifting regulatory environments are making clients cautious in their spending. This means consulting firms are expected to deliver more measurable outcomes at lower costs and in shorter cycles, which puts pressure on legacy delivery models. Third- AI regulation and ethical ambiguity are evolving rapidly.
Clients are asking: "How can we trust these models? Are they safe, explainable, inclusive?" The challenge lies in balancing rapid innovation with responsible governance, a space where many firms are still building muscle. Another challenge is demand-fragmentation. Clients want niche, hyper-personalized solutions but expect enterprise-grade scale and security. Bridging this tension between craft and scale requires agile governance, modular offerings, and partner ecosystems that are deeply integrated. The sustainability imperative is becoming nonnegotiable. ESG expectations are rising but standards vary widely. Consulting firms must evolve to offer data-rich, audit-ready and compliance-aligned ESG transformation services that are authentic not performative. In short, the most challenging forces are not just technical, they’re human, ethical and systemic. Navigating them requires foresight, flexibility, and a deep commitment to creating lasting value for clients, people and society.
CMAG: What impact do you think Best Firm to Work For honors will have on your employees? The firm overall? Clients?
Being honored as a “Best Firm to Work For” has a ripple effect that travels far beyond internal morale; it touches the very soul of the organization. For employees, this recognition is both validation and motivation. It confirms that their efforts, values and voices matter. It fosters belonging and pride, especially among early-career consultants and underrepresented groups. It becomes a conversation starter in team huddles, a highlight on LinkedIn, and a silent reassurance during tough project days that “I chose the right place. ”For the firm, recognition boosts employer branding, accelerates top-talent acquisition and enhances internal retention. Metrics aside, it energizes leadership to sustain the culture that earned the recognition. It also opens the door to new talent pools for those seeking workplaces that align with their values, not just compensation. Our Glassdoor scores, eNPS ratings, and engagement survey results often see a 10–20% boost in the months following such honors. For clients, this matters more than one might think. Clients increasingly look at partner firms not just for capability but for credibility. Being recognized as the best workplace is indicative that we are not only competent, but also human-centric with the ability to bring our best selves to co-create meaningful, sustainable solutions. In a world driven by outcomes, this honor reaffirms our most timeless asset: our people. It allows us to walk into every client conversation, town hall, or proposal with a quiet but powerful message that we take care of our own, and we’ll take care of you too.
