Otávio Bachir, Managing Director, Global Valuation Services, Alvarez & Marsal

The former EY executive has been appointed Managing Director and will focus on growing the firm’s advisory practice in Brazil and other regional markets.

Professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has hired Otávio Bachir as a Managing Director to lead the expansion of its Global Valuation Services (GVS) practice in Brazil and throughout Latin America.

Bachir joins A&M with over two decades of experience, having previously served with the valuation practices of EY in both the U.S. and Brazil. His expertise covers valuation complexities for private equity managers, intangible assets, M&A, and capital attraction projects. He has worked across numerous sectors, including technology, media, telecommunications, energy and aviation.

According to Mark McMahon, Managing Director and GVS Global Practice Leader at A&M, the appointment is part of the firm's strategic investment in senior talent and capabilities across Latin America. He noted that Bachir's background will help clients navigate complex regulatory and reporting landscapes.

The expansion of the valuation practice in the region coincides with the 10-year anniversary of A&M's Global Transaction Advisory Group (Global TAG) in Latin America. Fabio Pires, a Global TAG Managing Director in the region, stated that Bachir's role will connect the firm's transaction capabilities with its valuation expertise, supporting broader deal-making services.

In a statement, Bachir pointed to A&M's position as a non-audit firm as a key factor for its growth in valuation services. "A&M's freedom from audit conflicts, integrated platform and heritage of operational excellence provides the ideal foundation for expanding its valuation footprint in Latin America," he said.

Bachir holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and a Master's degree in Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV).
