
MorganFranklin Cyber has announced the return of Matt DeFrain to the firm, where he will serve as the new Managing Director for the Healthcare, Pharma and Life Sciences sector. DeFrain rejoins the company from BDO, where he was a Managing Director for Cyber Risk & Resilience.
DeFrain's appointment comes as organizations in the health care and life sciences industries face a growing number of complex cybersecurity threats. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the practice that helps clients in these sectors manage their cyber strategies and navigate the evolving threat landscape
He brings over 20 years of experience in the consulting industry. Before his time at BDO, DeFrain worked as a Managing Director of Operational Resilience and Crisis Management at Deloitte and as a Director of Cybersecurity & Business Resilience at KPMG. This is his second stint at MorganFranklin Cyber; during a previous four-year tenure, he was the Managing Director of the Cyber Operational & Resilience (CORe) practice and also led the firm’s technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector.
In a statement, MorganFranklin Cyber CEO Keith Hollender noted DeFrain's experience in delivering cybersecurity solutions for clients. DeFrain stated his goal is to "continue growing the practice into a leading service provider that helps our clients navigate an ever-evolving threat landscape.
DeFrain holds several industry certifications, including Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He earned a B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
