Flynn Life Sciences Group has named industry veteran Chris DeMaina as its new Chief Executive Officer and partner. The appointment is coupled with a significant strategic shift for the consulting firm, which is rebranding to concentrate its services on the needs of small and emerging biotech companies.
DeMaina brings over two decades of experience in life sciences and health care consulting to the role. He was previously the senior vice president of client services at BioBridges, where he managed the organization through a period of significant growth and multiple acquisitions.
In his new role, DeMaina will oversee the firm's new strategy, which moves toward a deliverable-based contract staffing model. This approach is designed for smaller biotech firms that have lean internal teams and rely heavily on outsourced vendors. The fractional model allows these clients to access specific consulting expertise on an as-needed basis, providing operational flexibility.
"Flynn Life Sciences Group has earned its reputation through a deep commitment to understanding each client's unique challenges and delivering tailored solutions," DeMaina stated. "In my career, the client experience has been paramount to my success, architecting and delivering a deliverable-based services model to the businesses I work with."
The leadership change is part of a broader team expansion intended to support the new business model. The company also recently appointed Greg Contino as Chief Revenue Officer.
Mark Flynn, the consultancy's founder, commented on the appointment, noting that DeMaina's experience aligns with the firm's mission. According to the company, DeMaina's responsibilities will include driving the overall growth strategy and managing the delivery of its service lines to the life sciences industry.
