The appointment follows a two-year period where Hearsch served as the Americas Leader for the same practice. His background includes direct industry experience at General Motors and tier-one automotive suppliers Visteon Corp. and Brose Group. He holds an MBA in corporate strategy from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
This leadership change comes as the practice navigates significant growth and market shifts. The firm's expansion includes its acquisition last year of Berylls Strategy Advisors, which has since been rebranded as “Berylls by AlixPartners.”
In the company’s announcement, Hearsch pointed to the challenges facing the sector. “The entire industrial world today is encountering profound disruptions—technologically, operationally and strategically,” he said, positioning the practice to help clients manage these pressures.
Bergbaum, whose own resume includes time at Honda Motor Europe Ltd. and McKinsey & Co., welcomed Hearsch to the global leadership role. The dual-leadership structure, comprised of two veterans with over a decade each at AlixPartners, suggests the firm is reinforcing its core team to steer the practice through a volatile period for its automotive and industrial clients.
