William S. Haas, Senior Vice President, WSP

Industry leader to develop initiatives to improve decarbonization, electrification, electric storage and grid modernization.

WSP has announced that William S. Haas, LEED AP, has joined the firm as a senior vice president and national market leader for distributed energy and electrification.

In his new role, Haas drives WSP's distributed energy and electrification business in the U.S. market, with a focus on energy transition, and leads the strategic vision of this market segment for the firm. He is responsible for transportation electrification, industrial decarbonization, district/distributed energy, resiliency, grid modernization and related trends, as well associated impacts and needs like utility interconnections, electric storage and new substations. He is based in Chicago.

"His success in decarbonization, electrification, as well as environmental, social and governance matters, makes him a valuable asset to our clients and our Power and Energy team."

Haas brings more than two decades of experience in energy consulting, strategy, policy and management to WSP. Most recently he served as vice president of energy with a global engineering services firm, where he was responsible for business growth and initiatives across North America, as well as managing major decarbonization and electrification pursuits.

He is a graduate of Lawrence University with a bachelor's degree in environmental science, and Columbia University with a master's degree in public administration, environmental science and policy. In 2020 Haas was named to the national Engineering News-Record (ENR) Top 20 Under 40 list, and in 2019 ENR-Midwest recognized him in its Top Young Professionals recognition program. He was named to the Midwest Energy News 40 Under 40 list in 2017.
