What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?
I am passionate about travel, exploring the world and seeing different cultures. I have been extremely lucky to have been able to live and travel around the world – I've lived in six countries on four continents and visited many more. It is my ongoing goal to continue to expand my horizons and foster a sense of wonder and appreciation about the world in others. We can all benefit greatly from learning about different perspectives and by elevating the voices of others around us.
What's the best advice—consulting or otherwise—you've ever received?
Some of the best professional advice I have received is that you are in the room because you belong there. Take advantage of the opportunity to voice your opinion and contribute actively to discussions and decisions. It is better to participate imperfectly rather than not participate at all.
What advice would you give to a female consultant just beginning her career?
My advice would be that confidence is cultivated by practicing new skills over time. Be bold in taking on expanded responsibilities and trust in your ability. A new role or project may seem unfamiliar at first, but perseverance will yield a sense of accomplishment and increased confidence. Along this journey, don't be afraid to ask questions; there are mentors everywhere – seek them out!
What does this recognition mean to you?
This recognition is incredibly meaningful to me. It highlights the importance of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at our organizations. I am very proud of my many colleagues who are passionate about DEI and have accomplished significant change over a short period of time. I am humbled to be representing my organization which is committed to the values of DEI.
