CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?

Kin + Carta doesn't stand still. Our resilience is because of our ability to be responsive to changes in the world around us and in how we serve our clients. We have three values we've built our business on – Courage, Compassion and Connection. Our mission is to build a world that works better for everyone. This means we forge clear connections between our work and driving the change we want to see in the world. This is what makes us a Best Large Firm to Work For.

CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Firm to Work For?

We hold ourselves to a higher standard in the way we serve our clients and stay relevant in the rapidly changing technology landscape. This year we launched an initiative to embed a 7-star client experience in our delivery model and the way we partner with our clients so that as we grow every new hire knows what good looks like. Why 7-stars? Because 5 simply isn't good enough.

Kin + Carta was the first certified B Corp on the London Stock Exchange. This means we use the B Corp framework to guide how we run our business. Earning this accreditation was only the first step for us, as continuously improving our business through the higher standards of the B Corp guiding principles takes ongoing focus. What's more, our inclusion, diversity, equity and awareness strategy (IDEA) holds us accountable to DEI goals as we constantly challenge ourselves to create a more equitable and inclusive workplace.

CMAG: What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart?

Kin + Carta was built for the 2020s. We are a digitally-native consultancy. Technology is in our DNA. This means everything we do is grounded in how our clients get the outcomes they want from their technology investments. We recognize that technology moves fast and it's our job to be ready.

We solve complex problems with emerging technology for some of the most recognizable brands in the world. Our deep expertise and collaborative approach empower our clients to innovate, modernize, optimize and ultimately, succeed.

We believe our business has a responsibility to be a force for good, embedding more responsibility in the solutions we deliver, driving positive change for our clients and impact in the world. We do this through our commitments as a triple-bottom-line business — striking a balance between people, performance and our planet.

CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?

We're hyper-focused on our clients and our people. By zeroing in on customer achievement and championing the highest possible standards as a consulting partner, we accelerate our own success. Alongside this, we're committed to bringing our employee value proposition to life while continually evolving. People are the lifeblood of Kin + Carta and this approach means we can attract, train, retain and grow the best talent. We are nimble and responsive, adapting our policies to meet the needs of our Kin — recent examples include the roll-out of our medical travel allowance and transitioning at work policies.

CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2024, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your markets?

The pace of technological change has never been faster. As technologists, it's exciting to see the momentum and conversations that advances in AI have triggered. We're focused on staying ahead of the technology curve so that our clients always have a competitive advantage. Right now, I'm really excited about our work in this AI & data space. Much like the previous technology waves that sparked change — mobile channel engagement, conversational user experiences and cloud-native / cloud-platform-powered solutions—the data wave is set to revolutionize our industry. We're already delivering projects with some of our largest clients that will transform the data literacy of their businesses. The growth trajectory of data is set to create more and more interesting work for our people and amplify the value of our client partnerships.

CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?

This award is a recognition of what the people who already work at Kin + Carta have built and a signal to prospective employees to check us out. This award energizes us. It inspires us to continue evolving, improving, and doing good so we can create meaningful impact for our clients. A big, ambitious goal we're working toward is to become an internationally recognized best place to work. We're committed to an employee value proposition, a three-year inclusion, diversity, equity and awareness strategic plan, and a bi-annual employee engagement survey process to track progress toward this goal. I hope being a Best Large Firm to Work For will encourage other businesses to stretch their thinking and use their platforms to advocate for positive change.
