What has motivated you to excel over the course of your career?

Client excellence is my overarching driver and what inspires me each and every day. I feel privileged to have had so many opportunities to shape my clients' agendas over the years, and they entrust me with some of their most sensitive programs.

With this, comes the motivation to do and achieve more. It also requires me to think how to be a long-term partner to help clients become more relevant, to reshape their businesses, and launch new market strategies. This is a big responsibility, but with it comes an immensely empowering drive to create noticeable value and positive change. Seeing the success my clients have had in the market, combined with the unbiased appreciation I've received from stakeholders, makes the work incredibly worthwhile and rewarding.

What has been the biggest factor in your success so far?

In all my dealings – whether it's with clients, colleagues or strategic partners – I have always strived to come with an open mind and a can-do attitude. Consulting is a relationship business. It requires us to listen to client needs, analyze market demands, and deliver tailored programs that will help businesses grow. I would never have found the success that I've enjoyed had I not come to this process with an open mind, and face every complex challenge presented my way with a positive attitude.

In fact, this principle is the first thing I teach to my teams, because, otherwise, we can't do our job as consultants. The only way we can delicately and efficiently balance client demands with market requirements, is proactively, expertly and with open eyes, ears and minds. Overall, I think this principle is something I have always had strong elements of within me, and it's been an essential pillar to my continued growth, learning and development.

What do you enjoy most about your career in the consulting industry?

Without a doubt, what I enjoy most is the people I work with and helping shape their careers!

I have been exposed to so many talented individuals at all levels and realized early on that the ticket to my success lies in the happiness and motivation of my teams. Without this, nothing is really possible. I enjoy taking the time to get to know my teams and really get into the crux of what inspires and motivates them.

As such, I've had the privilege of seeing many young, up-and-coming talents unlock their potential. Witnessing team members learn, develop, and grow into future leaders is the greatest gift a boss can experience. I'm so honored, excited, and grateful to be part of their journeys, which, in turn, fuels my own lifelong learning and development path. They help me be a better role model and leader. I find this relationship incredibly rewarding and endlessly interesting.

I've also developed lifelong friendships. Our industry is all about networking and people – and I cherish having led so many incredibly talented individuals that have grown into great human beings, as well as world class consultants. What is your proudest achievement to date?

Making partner a few years back is my proudest achievement to date. I had always aspired to reach this height in my career and become partner in a leading global firm. In that moment I was able to reflect fondly on the many people who influenced and supported me throughout my career, including the team I now currently lead. So many of these incredible individuals contributed to my personal successes, and I really see my 'partner' milestone as a reflection of the many generosities they've bestowed – from vital career lessons to unrelenting support.

What's the best advice you've ever been given?

Someone once said to me: "Never stop learning and growing." This resonated with me deeply at the time, and is something I still practice to this day.

I'm always striving to learn and push the boundaries of my personal development. When I was younger, I looked to my seniors for their expertise and career wisdom. Now, I look to my younger colleagues, for a clearer idea on current thought, feeling and trends, and how to be the best boss I can be. This lesson is also particularly important in consulting. In recent years, especially, markets have been incredibly volatile, continuously impacting businesses in ways that make them have to re-adjust quickly. Now, with cutting-edge technologies changing industries faster than they have time to adapt, it's critical to stay ahead of trends to be futureproof and competitive. If I'm not aware of these trends and what businesses need to implement to safeguard and secure a bright future, then I'm not doing my job well. By continuously learning, I'm able to be the best for myself, my teams and my firm.

What does this recognition mean to you?

Having worked as a consultant for 25 years, being recognized as a top consulting leader in the industry would be a significant high point in my career.

At the same time, I'm passionate about supporting and encouraging the next generation of consulting talent. As a young consultant, and even now, seeing role models and peers achieve recognition for all their hard work is incredibly inspiring and motivating. Should I receive this award, I hope that it will encourage other aspiring young ambitious professionals to fulfil their potential.
