Outside of work, Pablo finds and fills equity gaps. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Muniz Academy, a dual language innovation high school within the Boston Public School System, and was a longtime mentor for students through Year Up, an organization committed to ensuring equitable access to economic opportunity, education, and justice for underserved young adults.
Pablo has a B.S. in International Business from Kean University, an M.S. in Enterprise Risk Management from NYU, and is currently pursuing a Global Executive M.B.A from TRIUM. He is also a Certified Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Product Owner.
What would you say has been the biggest factor in your success so far?
I can't pinpoint a single factor in my success, because I've been fortunate to have so many: my multicultural upbringing, the sacrifices my mother made so I could have the educational opportunities that I had, my time in the military, and my inner drive to succeed and push forward through obstacles are just a few that come to mind.
What do you enjoy most about your career in the consulting industry?
The people and the constant change. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and consulting presents me with an opportunity to learn – across industries and challenges – while working with people with different backgrounds who help shape my global perspective each day.
What is your proudest achievement to date?
Before becoming a parent, I would say establishing the Punto B business resource group at Point B. I saw a gap in support for Point B'ers and wanted to create a space for Hispanic and Latinx associates to foster personal and professional growth, empowerment and inclusion. The group is a little over a year old now and it's extremely rewarding to see people connect with shared experiences and advice across geographies and organizational levels. We've also been able to partner with the broader organization to help break down biases in hiring to ensure fair and equitable outcomes.
What's the best advice you've ever been given?
"Take time to process before you respond—regardless of the situation." It's something that I use a lot in my role now as I mentor and coach 37 consultants—especially when challenges arise. I've benefited from past leaders who have employed this tactic with me. Candidly, I'm still working on my own approach. It's hard not to react in the moment, but I'm getting better at it.
What does this recognition mean to you?
In my family, I'm the first generation of "everything." It's been my unofficial duty to set examples for my family—who, I hope in turn, will go on to do better than I have. This recognition demonstrates that anything is achievable and help them start to set their sights high and carve their path forward.
