What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?

I am honored so be working in my dream job. I worked hard to build a career in management consulting but wanted an opportunity to focus more of my time on helping others be successful. Luckily, the Alexander Group was growing a small but mighty team focused on enabling and training our consulting teams. I knew this was exactly what I had been looking for, even though it was scary to veer off the traditional consulting path. My new role is energizing and gives me the opportunity to impact a wide variety of colleagues across the company. I am thankful to have found my place in the evolving world of consulting.

What advice would you give to a female consultant just beginning her career?

Have confidence in yourself and your abilities. A successful career in consulting comes in many forms and your journey may look different than the person next to you. It may be easy, but is not often helpful to compare yourself to others. Focus on your strengths and have confidence that you are growing your own career in the way that makes the most sense for you.

What do you enjoy most about your consulting career?

Management consulting is a people business. I genuinely believe that people make or break an experience in this line of work. I work alongside brilliant and inquisitive colleagues who support and challenge me. I am also fortunate to have found myself working for a company where my colleagues feel just as much like friends as they do family- a rare occurrence in the professional world.

What's the best advice—personal or professional—you've ever received?

The best advice I've ever received is that time is our most valuable resource because once it is gone, you can never get it back. While many well-known authors have shared similar sentiments over the years, my sister was the first to impart this wisdom to me. Hearing this concept forever changed how I thought about my priorities in my personal and professional life. My time became something that I thought about much more critically. It is now easier to choose where I do and do not want to spend my time.

What does it mean being honored as a Woman Leader in Consulting mean to you?

I am incredibly honored to have been nominated by the Alexander Group and selected by Consulting Magazine alongside an impressive group of women. Being honored as a Women Leader in Consulting shows that contributions to the industry can come in many different forms and that supporting others with my time and energy is always a valuable investment.
