Excellence in Leadership
Kelly Manthey is the Global Chief Executive Officer of Kin + Carta, a global digital transformation consultancy committed to working alongside our clients to build a world that works better for everyone. In this role, Kelly is responsible for the creation and execution of long-term strategy, overall firm performance and global business operations.
The proudest moment in Kelly's career came when Kin + Carta became globally certified as a B Corp, acknowledging the firm as a triple bottom line business — one that places equal value on people, planet and profit. As a leader, Kelly practices mindfulness and empathy to keep herself grounded and compassionate to the needs of others in a high performance environment.
While her work keeps her curious mind energized, Kelly's favorite and proudest roles have been being mom to Jack and PJ and wife to Paul. She is a runner with three full marathons under her belt and enjoys reading, personal fitness and cooking.
What do you enjoy most about your consulting career?
By far the best part of my journey is that a career in consulting has expanded my network faster than I would have in any other career. I've been able to partner with and serve a wide variety of businesses in a range of sectors solving their most strategic problems with emerging technologies. This work has introduced me to some of the most innovative and strategic minds. From each individual I've met along the way, I've learned something new. If you have a restless, curious mind like mine, this is gold.
What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?
This journey I have been part of with Kin + Carta is once in a lifetime. Our transformation from a portfolio of brands to a pure play global digital transformation service provider over the last three years is quite an accomplishment on its own, but doing so as a B Corp certified, triple bottom line business, is an incredible opportunity to drive the change we want to see in the world.
What's the best advice—personal or professional—you've ever received?
When you are given a seat at the table, use it. Early in my career I received advice from one of my managers at the time that if I had the seat in the meeting I should use it. Be deliberate to play an active role in conversations, adding value to them and not just taking up space or assuming a note taking role. I have paid that advice forward to every person who gets a seat at the table.
What advice would you give to a female consultant just beginning her career?
Let your curiosity be your compass — lean into the opportunities and experiences that are presented to you that interest you. And even if you are only mildly interested, don't shy away from exploring where it might take you or what you can learn.
What does being honored as a Woman Leader in Consulting mean to you?
You can't be what you can't see. This recognition is not for me, it's for anyone early in their career who needs to see what's possible for themselves. For all of those who are stuck in their head with self-doubt or second guessing being 'good enough.' You are enough, you can do great things, and the world needs you.
