What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?

I don't think I have just one or one I could say completely outweighs the other. As I continue to grow personally and professionally, my definition and thus fulfillment from "achievements" changes. So perhaps my greatest achievement is learning that it's a continuous journey and to embrace finding new achievements, both small and large, I never thought I would.

What advice would you give to a female consultant just beginning her career?

My advice is to remain authentic to who you are, capitalize on opportunities that are presented, and work hard to make it happen. When I heard we had a sales opportunity within Agriculture Lending, I knew I had more expertise than most at my firm, so I made sure I found myself at that sales table and then delivering on projects. One might not always know when that game-changing opportunity will present itself, but when it does, go for it and don't look back.

What do you enjoy most about your consulting career?

The continuous professional and personal growth it allows, not only with myself, but with my teams and clients. It's extremely rewarding when we build trusting relationships and deliver great results, but most importantly, everyone who was a part of that project has found success. Plus, all the people I get to meet and learn from, it's an amazing opportunity.

What's the best advice—personal or professional—you've ever received?

Two come to mind. First is to take accountability when working in teams and give credit where due – that's what a true leader does. The team receives the credit for the successes, but if something goes wrong, I, as the leader, must take accountability and rectify the situation. Second, and arguably some of the best advice, was from my dad who told me early on in my career to ask the hard questions and then "BE QUIET!"

What does being honored as a Woman Leader in Consulting mean to you?

This recognition is a testament to my teams' and clients' collaboration and excellent work together. It represents all the people who have had a hand in helping build the Agricultural Lending and Farm Credit practice and making it what it is today. My success would not be possible without everyone along the way.
