CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Large Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?
Kin + Carta has remained resilient amid unprecedented times by keeping true to who we are — a mission-driven digital transformation consultancy. This is made real through our commitment to operating as a triple bottom line business – placing equal value on people, profit, and our planet. Our mission of building a world that works better for everyone keeps us focused on drawing a clear connection between how our client work and our business plays a role in driving the change we want to see in the world. This is what makes us a Best Large Firm to Work For.
CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Large Firm to Work For?
Becoming the first certified B Corp on the London Stock Exchange, and all of the work that took to get us there, has contributed to Kin + Carta being a Best Large Firm to Work For. In lockstep, Kin + Carta's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Awareness strategy holds us accountable to DEI goals and ever evolving our workplace to be more equitable and inclusive. Upholding certification is how we will continue to be a best workplace and how we have committed to corporate social responsibility. Our B Corp designation validates that we are on the right track, and reminds us that our journey is never done.
CMAG: What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart?
What sets Kin + Carta apart is that all employees have the opportunity to be a part of something impactful in the world through our work and how we operate as a business. We solve complex problems with technology at its core for some of the most well-known brands in the world to help them innovate, modernize, optimize, or enable their own success. We believe our business has a responsibility to be a force for good, driving responsibility-driven changes across our clients and across our world. And that's what we do through our commitment to operate as a triple bottom line business — striking a balance in every decision between people, profit, and our planet. At Kin + Carta, we are large enough to deliver against the world's toughest challenges, yet we've structured ourselves to be small and connected enough to care about each and every employee, personally.
CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?
At Kin + Carta, we remain hyper-focused on how we continuously balance people, planet and firm profit. Our people are the lifeblood of our business, and the work we do to support our people is critical. Over the next 6-12 months, that will show up in how we continue to bring our Employee Value Proposition to life — keeping a constant focus on how we're attracting, training, retaining, and growing the individuals who are a part of Kin + Carta. For the planet, one area that we've prioritized is in the sustainability space. Over the next 6-12 months, we will begin activating against our newest big, heroic audacious goal of saving our clients one million metric tons of CO2 by 2027. We'll be doing this through generating new efficiencies in our clients' digital estates while at the same time developing innovative, sustainable experiences for our clients. Alongside this, we'll be investing in sustainability-focused training programs for our Kin so that everyone across Kin + Carta will be set up to make an impact. This bilateral approach will ensure that Kin + Carta is well positioned to meet the demands of our time, and of our future, while also supporting our clients in meeting their own responsible business objectives.
CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2023, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your markets?
I'm really excited about what we're doing as it relates to our data capabilities. Much like the technology waves in the past that ushered in engagement on the mobile channel, conversational user experiences and cloud-native/cloud platform powered solutions, the data wave has just begun. We are already in the process of delivering projects with some of our largest clients that will transform the data literacy of their business. I look forward to the growth trajectory of data work creating more and more interesting work for our people and extending the value of our partnership with our clients.
CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Large Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?
A big, ambitious goal we're working towards is to become an internationally recognized best place to work. We've committed to an Employee Value Proposition, a three-year Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Awareness strategic plan, and a bi-annual employee engagement survey process to track towards this goal. Being a Best Large Firm to Work For validates the effort taken thus far and signals to the market that we have the right people to elevate their business. This award win energizes me to continue evolving, improving, and doing good for our people so they can create meaningful experiences for our clients.
CMAG: Thank you, and congratulations.
