CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?

We work hard to stay true to our values, sustain our culture and provide leading innovative solutions to our clients. By developing a true partnership with our clients, we are able to solve their business challenges and become a trusted advisor. This has allowed us to maintain existing client relationships, and also develop new ones – all while evolving operationally in response to the changing business climate.

CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Firm to Work For?

Our culture and our people are what define us, and we have continued to find ways to strengthen both as we grow. Specifically:

  • Established an executive-led People Council focused on providing all CapTechers with a great place to work. Held monthly "Voice of our People" sessions to gather feedback directly from our consultants
  • Rolled out a hybrid-work arrangement (CapFLEX) that recognizes and balances the needs of our people with our client's needs
  • Established and grew five diverse Employee Resource Groups to help further our Core Value of Belonging
  • Transitioned to a National Staffing model – providing increased opportunity for personal and technical skill development
  • Introduced a personalized lifestyle benefits platform (Fringe) with a monthly stipend for employees to use towards entertainment, school loan payback, medical costs, groceries, fitness, etc.
  • Introduced a new bonus program (consultant through manager) and increased compensation transparency
  • Developed a streamlined core competency framework that is used for career progression and promotions
  • Invested in employee/family member mental health – including twelve one-on-one sessions with a certified mental health professional, financial well-being coach or licensed clinical therapist
  • Began formally recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month across the company – marking it weekly throughout May 2022
  • Entered into a partnership (Carrot Fertility) to provide fertility benefits and assistance with family planning
  • Increased support for continuing education, including Tuition Reimbursement and Professional Development budgets

CMAG: What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart? Our genuine people-focused culture differentiates us from the competition.

This starts at the top with leaders who are invested in coaching, mentoring and providing our consultants with the growth opportunities that they seek. We fully embrace our innovative, collaborative and diverse culture – allowing us to demonstrate the depth and strength of our technical expertise and delivery capabilities. CapTechers also deeply care for, support and value one another across every level of the company. This is why we're a career destination for people who love consulting – and want to have the flexibility to do their best work while pursuing their other passions and responsibilities outside of work.

CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?

Our commitment to making a difference in the lives of our employees, clients and local communities continues to be at the forefront of our decision-making and planning. Near term, we are working through the impending roll out and communication of our revised and improved post-pandemic Employee Value Proposition which will anchor our planning processes. Longer term, we are refreshing our overall growth strategy in a way that will create many exciting opportunities for current and future CapTechers while staying true to our vision and Core Values.

CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2023, what excites you?

What opportunities do you see in your future? We celebrated 25 years in business this year. In that time, we've grown to 1000 employees and we are regarded as experts in digital innovation and execution. We are excited to see what the next 25 years bring. We continue to evolve our solutions and services to focus on the value we can bring to our clients – all while making CapTech a great place to start or build a career. With this dual focus on our people and our clients, along with the digital transformation, data and creative capabilities we have, I'm excited to see us continue to grow and build new solutions and relationships across the industries we serve.

CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?

Being recognized as one of Consulting Magazine's Best Firm to Work For is a true honor and an important reflection of our mission to be the best consulting firm to work for and to work with. This prestigious recognition is a direct reflection of how our people feel about our company. We feel very fortunate that our CapTechers support this mission and see themselves woven into the fabric of our purpose – as trusted advisors to our clients who are proud to exemplify our culture and values. We will continue to grow and position them as the thought leaders, change-makers and innovative problem solvers that our clients can depend on, and our communities will benefit from.

CMAG: Thank you, and congratulations.
