CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Small Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?
Creating a one-of-a-kind culture where veterans want to work. We hire only veterans and we focus on treating our people well. We have great pay and work flexibility; the headquarters has more amenities than I can count, but most of all, the people enjoy working with each other. Additionally, we get stuff done. We don't languish in what can't be done – we just do.
CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Small Firm to Work For?
I think our "Adult Rules" approach is the primary driver for our success. We have high expectations for our team members, and they hold each other accountable. They support each other and focus on the team winning. Additionally, to support the Adult Rules approach, we developed a set of behaviors that sets clear expectations for daily activity. The behaviors are reinforced daily by the senior leadership team and have become part of our DNA.
CMAG: What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart?
We are 100% veteran owned and operated. That means 100% of our team are veterans. There is no other company in America that can say they are as large as us and still 100% veteran operated. We don't sell on being veterans, but being veterans make us better at implementation than anyone else. Our people are accustomed to dealing with changing conditions, ambiguous tasking and other issues associated with getting stuff done.
CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?
Maintain 25% growth year of year, hiring and training military veterans into quality jobs and making our clients successful.
CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2023, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your future?
We are growing and expanding constantly and that is exciting. Seeing our consultants grow personally and professionally is amazing and what drives me to show up every day.
CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Small Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?
Being a Best Small Firm is a great way to be recognized for the hard work each consultant puts in each day. Also, it is wonderful to be amongst a lot for other great companies doing big things. Ultimately, it adds credibility to what we are doing and gives us a sense of pride.
