CMAG: How would you say you've managed to stay among the industry's Best Firms to Work For amid these unprecedented times?

We're thrilled to be honored for the fourth year in a row as a Best Firm to Work For. As we've said before, we believe this win can be attributed to the fact that we truly put our people first. We're constantly looking for new and engaging ways to enhance the employee experience, help our people develop their careers, and keep everyone safe, healthy, and productive. Another big contributor to our success is our commitment to innovation. We are constantly expanding as a business and exploring new and innovative solutions to advance the cybersecurity industry.

CMAG: Were there any specific programs or initiatives (internal or external) that contributed to you being a Best Firm to Work For?

There are several specific programs and initiatives that we believe have contributed to our success and our recognition as a Best Firm to Work For. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion continues to set us apart. Our employee resource groups are thriving and have organized numerous events to engage, educate, and support our team members, celebrate our similarities, and embrace our differences. Our internal recognition programs continue to reward those who make an impact across the business and inspire others.

Now that the majority of Coalfire employees have worked remotely since the onset of COVID, we also shifted our focus to emphasize the importance of flexibility and connectivity. Instead of PTO, we embrace a flexible time off model, and we don't operate with fixed working hours; while employees are expected to be available for client meetings and team obligations, there is no expectation to be at your desk from 9 AM – 5 PM. And since we are no longer seeing each other every day in Coalfire offices, we emphasize staying connected through Slack, in-person events, and team offsites.

CMAG: What's unique about your firm? What sets it apart?

Coalfire is certainly a special place to work. We support some of the world's biggest companies, including AWS, Google, and IBM, as they work to address their toughest cybersecurity challenges. We're constantly innovating, exploring new products and services so that we can stay ahead in this ever-evolving market. And, of course, our people are our greatest asset. They bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and insight, and we constantly hear high praise from clients about the professionalism and expertise of our people.

CMAG: What's the top priority over the next 6 to 12 months?

Our priority is to continue to scale our technology-enabled solutions supporting cybersecurity and compliance. This includes continuing to invest in cutting-edge, industry-leading compliance automation and advancing development of automation for our penetration testing and comprehensive vulnerability management services.

We take great pride in our ability to anticipate the needs of our customers and designing new and innovative solutions to better support them, and this remains a focus as we navigate the next 6 to 12 months.

CMAG: When you look at the remainder of this year and 2023, what excites you? What opportunities do you see in your future?

For many organizations around the world, cybersecurity is already a top priority. Others are quickly recognizing its importance as cyberattacks become more pervasive and as new security frameworks and requirements become commonplace. We believe our potential is truly limitless as we continue to expand our offerings, develop more holistic solutions, tap into a constantly growing market, and work more closely with our ecosystem of partners to better support the needs of our customers. We are excited to see how we can continue to support our existing clients, as well as new ones, in solving their toughest cybersecurity challenges.

CMAG: What impact do you think being a Best Firm to Work For has on the firm? Employees? Clients?

This recognition continues to reinforce the fact that Coalfire is a world-class consulting firm. It helps us attract new talent and retain new employees, and it gives us an excellent opportunity to celebrate the things that make Coalfire a truly special place to work: our people and our culture.
