Excellence in Client Services
Bryce VanDiver is a part of Capco's US Leadership team where he leads the Southeast region. Bruce takes great satisfaction in working with clients and Capco teams to accelerate business change and digital transformation across the financial services industry. In his role, he works closely with boards of directors and c-level executives leading large-scale services and spearheads client relationships across retail, commercial & investment banks, payments processors, FinTech and non-bank providers. He regularly participates and contributes to financial services industry forums (American Banker, Bloomberg, etc) on banking and payments trends.
What has motivated you to excel over the course of your career?
On a macro level, I am motivated by the complex challenges that confront the financial services industry and our clients. This is a time of intense change and transformation in the industry, which can make you feel intense pressure and reward at the same time. I like rolling up my sleeves and getting in on the action, whether it's helping clients migrate to a digital-first value proposition or adhere to regulatory mandates.
I'm also motivated by good old-fashioned competition, a sense of equity and fairness, and helping my team reach their full potential. Coaching is an integral part of my professional identity. Mentoring junior consultants is extremely rewarding to me, and I thrive watching my proteges succeed and advance.
What has been the biggest factor in your success so far?
Mentorship. I've been fortunate to have excellent mentors who consistently pushed and stretched me to not accept the status quo. It can be easy to fall into the billable routine and simply show up. My mentors led by example doing what's right for the client regardless of how uncomfortable it may be. Family Support. The road warrior game of consulting is no joke, although it has slowed down with COVID. I would not be where I am today (airline statuses and all) without the support of my family and friends who have believed in me from step one.
Loyalty and trust—on all fronts. My own loyalty to Capco, to my team, and to my clients as well as their loyalty and trust in me.
The ability to pivot. For example, when COVID hit we were able to be agile, quickly addressing our clients' and employees' changing needs while adapting to a virtual business structure.
Straight Shooting. I don't play games — what you see is what you get. I have a transparent mode of communication that resonates with clients and peers alike.
Taking calculated risks and thinking boldly. I do things and sell things that other people don't see right away creates and adds sustained client value.
What does this recognition mean to you?
I am humbled by the peer recognition. I remember the day I told my wife (then girlfriend) that I wanted to go into consulting. Seeing that dream become a reality has been quite the ride. Winning this award is the cherry on top.
Being named one of the Top Consultants is a great honor as it is arguably the highest recognition for the consulting profession in the U.S. Working for a challenger brand, this award would acknowledge both my contributions to the consulting industry and Capco's on-going contributions to the consulting and financial services industries.
