What has been the biggest factor in your success so far?
I was born in Laos and raised by my grandmother. I watched how she selflessly served as the caregiver for a village in Laos to live healthier lives when there was no access to healthcare. This upbringing served as a catalyst for me at a young age, to have curiosity and compassion which drove me to solve challenges that would promote happier, healthier lives. This passion still drives me to this day. Whenever I think about my beginnings, I can't help but to work hard to make a difference.
What do you enjoy most about your career in the consulting industry?
As a woman leader in the consulting industry, my biggest enjoyment in my career is being able to see our clients' achieve their goals. Our success is defined by how Ellit Groups solve clients' issues, and deliver solutions that improve patient outcomes.
As the CEO, I am responsible for the short- and long-term strategies, overseeing quality, setting goals for each of our service lines, but also staying relevant through working directly with our clients to understand and solve their problems. The process of helping our clients' reach their goals is ultimately how I find enjoyment in my career. When our clients are successful, our entire team is successful.
What's the best advice you've ever been given?
I have always lived by the mantra "you can't assist others with their needs if you don't take care of yourself". While my schedule is hectic, even chaotic at times, I always take time out to enjoy outings and events with family, friends and work colleagues. This year, I have been fortunate to spend time, in small groups being mindful of COVID-19 protocols, celebrating birthdays, baby showers and relaxing with family. My Ellit Groups' team is family to me also.
Whenever we are working on a client site, we plan team events to celebrate our successes and collaborate to find solutions to the challenges we encounter. We work and play together to form strong, cohesive teams. With all of our passion and dedication toward our work and clients, I want to ensure that myself and the people close to me continue to enjoy the things most important to them to keep everyone's moral high.
What does being honored as a Women Leader in Technology mean to you?
As an MWBE founder, and someone who transitioned her career from being on the provider side to building a consulting firm from the ground up, this shows my team and I that we did through perseverance, hard work and passion toward excellence. It reinforces that we are on the right trajectory forward. This honor indicates a measure of success for both myself, my team, my clients, and everyone who believed in me.
