Andrea Levine
FTI Consulting
Excellence in Client Service
Andrea Levine, a Managing Director within the Technology segment of FTI Consulting is a qualified antitrust attorney and expert in merger and cartel investigations. She has overseen investigations for some of the largest mergers in the U.S. and specializes in interacting with regulators on clients' behalf. At FTI Technology, she has been instrumental in the creation, implementation and growth of novel solutions that help clients mitigate risk and improve response to high-stakes matters.
When the DOJ published guidelines for antitrust compliance in 2019, Andrea joined a task force aimed at creating a framework for effective antitrust compliance programs. She helped develop a robust offering for in-house and outside antitrust attorneys to proactively address antitrust compliance risk. The solution, which incorporated FTI Consulting's collective antitrust expertise, data analytics and monitoring workflows, led to the Technology segment's first proactive antitrust compliance engagement. Andrea served as a leader throughout, providing strategic guidance, risk assessment, policy development, training and analytics deployments and is continuing this work with current and new clients.
Andrea's leadership in tailoring solutions to specific needs, ability to drive collaboration across segments and excellent client service have contributed to continuing growth of the firm's antitrust compliance program offering and substantial contributions to a multi-million-dollar service line. In one engagement, the client expanded its work with Andrea's team from a U.S. focus to a broader roll-out. She is looking to extend the solution to help clients also mitigate risks associated with other regulations.
What would you say has been the biggest factor in your success so far?
I'm always looking ahead to anticipate what my clients will need in the future, above and beyond what they are asking for in the moment, which has been integral to my success with clients. For example, the Story Development and compliance offerings I've helped develop within our practice address both current and future issues for clients—they help with immediate case and compliance needs, as well as big picture issues that span legal spend, ongoing consistency of practices with DOJ and other regulatory guidance and avoiding costly future violations. Working for FTI Technology, a firm that invests in ingenuity, expertise and new solution development, has been a significant factor in my ability to continually help clients mitigate future risk.
What do you enjoy most about your career in the consulting industry?
I really enjoy learning about new industries. The solutions I deliver to clients require me to have a foundational, or in some cases in-depth, understanding of my clients' business and industry in addition to deep knowledge of the tools and workflows that can address their challenges. This keeps the job interesting, challenging and engaging. It's a way and motivation for me to be continually learning and improving on the services we provide our clients.
What is your proudest achievement to date?
It's very rewarding to see a client evolve based on the guidance we've provided, rather than simply leaning on a quick fix to a big problem. I'm proud of the collaboration I've achieved with my clients. They trust me to help see them through a project and through that, I get to see them embrace the recommendations we've provided for how they can operate better, be a more compliant organization and leverage their data in a way that is smart and insightful.
What's the best advice you've ever been given?
It's hard to narrow down to the single best advice, but there is one experience that stands out as having a significant impact on my work. As a junior associate, I was reprimanded for not properly using the outline function in Word when creating a deposition preparation outline for a more senior associate. It reminded me of the importance of details and instilled the view that details shouldn't be painstaking, but when something is going to impact the ability for another person to do their work or understand the work I did, they do count. I always try to bring that to my client work. I ask myself how I to best convey information so everything is clear, makes my clients' jobs easier and demonstrates top-notch service.
What does being honored as a Rising Star mean to you?
Any time my work is recognized by my clients and my colleagues, it's an honor. When this comes in the form of new and repeat client business, it's one of the greatest testaments to the value our teams are delivering. Similarly, receiving this award is an incredible acknowledgment from this community of my current and former colleagues and clients that the work I do and the paths I'm helping to create for FTI Technology are making an impact.
