What do you consider your greatest personal or professional achievement?

I think my overarching professional achievement is being a black woman from South London who was always told she would never amount to anything, yet I managed to have a 25-year career working for some of the biggest brands in the world including Nike, L'Oreal, Aston Martin and Rolls Royce. The international work I have done with brands in Singapore, Malaysia and the Middle East; spearheading projects that allowed female entrepreneurs' to internationalize their brand has been extremely rewarding.

What advice would you give a professional just beginning a career in consulting?

I would say; work for the best before you branch out on your own. Learn off of someone else's money and be humble enough to make your mistakes and grow organically. Gain mentorship from people who do not look like you is essential as it will open your eyes to new opportunities and perspectives.

What have you loved most about your consulting career?

The people I have been able to work with, learn from and support. The diverse breadth of clients from around the world; learning new cultures and understanding the nuances of brand marketing through their eyes. Leaving a footprint of media content that can hopefully empower the next generation of women coming up behind me.

What's the best advice—personal or professional—you've ever received?

Fail-forward! Failure is inevitable in business, but it's never really a failure when you learn from the lessons, bounce back and keep going forward. Don't hold onto the mistakes, dust yourself off and fail forward.

What does being honored as a Global Leader mean to you?

Being honored shows the next young girl from an inner-city that it is possible. She can dream big, she can go for it and one day, with lots of hard work and strategic planning, someone will see her.
