Excellence in Engagement

Lieve Creten is the Global Financial Advisory Talent and Learning leader for Deloitte's 25,000 global professionals. She's started numerous initiatives around advancing women in Financial Advisory leadership positions, and has mentored multiple women into partnership roles. Over her career she's inspired women around the world to have the confidence and skills to become M&A leaders.

She works with the regional FA practices to build a the best possible workplace for the firm's people, anchored around meaningful work with support, coaching, and mentoring by senior leaders in a positive and flexible work environment. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as providing a high-impact learning culture, are among her top priorities.

She also takes an active role outside of Deloitte to promote the role of women in M&A and Finance. In 2020, she took part in CEPS Idea lab 2020, a European think tank, speaking in a panel titled 'Agenda 2030: Unleashing the Potential of Women Entrepreneurs'. Every year, she teaches at a university to be a role model for students in Finance and M&A, and she has published multiple articles about M&A.

In winning this award, Creten says she hopes it inspires more businesses and communities to address cultural biases within the workplace, and provide more opportunities for recruiting and retention of locally relevant groups, and helping people excel through increased chances for learning and growth.

As for her greatest professional achievement, Creten says it's been the opportunity to engage Financial Advisory leadership to support and mentor women in global leadership roles.

"The roll-out and success of our Women in Leadership program across the globe has been incredibly important to elevate the topic of diversity within the organization and provide our talented women the opportunity to develop, network, and connect with senior leadership," she says.

Creten cites the trust and support she's received from the firm's Global Financial Advisory leadership team as the biggest key to her success.

"The leadership team has been extremely supportive and its advocacy of these imperatives have been key for us, as a business, to excel in for the value we bring to our clients," she says.

Q&A: What does it mean for you, your firm and your clients to be named a Global Leader in Consulting?

"Winning this award is truly a recognition for the entire Global Financial Advisory (FA) Talent and Learning team. It is a perfect way to shine a spotlight on the success of our two main priorities—Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Learning—and to continue to build momentum around them. Diversity in all its aspects has always been a topic close to my heart as I truly believe it makes a team much stronger and delivers more value to our clients."
