Habeeb Mahaboob is Practice Leader of BE., the consulting and management services division of TechMahindra. Under his leadership, the practice has grown to a 1,000-member team, delivering quantified business outcomes to global clients across multiple verticals.
His team has successfully deliver significant business impacting work across digital strategy, business process transformation, IT function transformation and integrated program and change management to Fortune 1,000 firms. During the pandemic, his team was able to quickly move to a work-from-home model and seamlessly deliver complex engagements involving multiple stakeholders, including a core banking product solution for a bank in Africa.
Over his career, Mahaboob has been instrumental in evolving a traditional Process/IT centric practice to include cutting edge services like factory of the future, automation consulting, and agile/devops transformation.
As for the keys to his success, Mahaboob pointed to the importance of being adaptable to changing external and internal context, sensing the change and taking purposeful actions to address it. He also cited intentional learning, and self-reflection on knowledge and skill gaps and taking steps to bridge them.
When it comes to what the recognition as a Global Leader in Consulting means for him and his firm, Mahaboob said such recognition is not only about past achievements, but provides motivation for the future.
"TechMahindra' s consulting team passed certain significant milestones (revenue, number of people) in the midst of the pandemic. We are now setting up for our next phase of growth; renewing our purpose, positioning, operating model, services, skill profile and methods. This recognition will spur us to complete our internal transformation and serve clients with even more dedication and focus," he says.
Q&A: What would you say are your greatest professional achievements thus far in your career?
"I just completed 20 years with my firm. In this period, we faced multiple economic disasters and one major internal financial turmoil. We also had the pandemic. With the strong support of the team, we have been able to navigate through, while holding the practice and team together."
