Spaulding Ridge

Excellence in Leadership

Amy Truett's first job was in sales for an IT staffing firm where she met a client, and now career-long mentor, who took an opportunity with one of the top Hyperion, finance technology consultancies, Blue Stone International. "He introduced me to Blue Stone leadership including CEO, Jay Laabs, and I was given an opportunity to join shortly thereafter," she says.

Fast forward many years and a few companies later, and Truett says she was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Laabs again at his second company, Spaulding Ridge. "I've learned our industry is a very tight knit one and investing in my professional relationships has been critical to my career," she says. "It's safe to assume that your competitors will become co-workers, bosses will become clients, companies will merge and maintaining all those relationships along with a strong personal brand is important."

Today Truett is Vice President, Global Alliances & Marketing where she is responsible for identifying and growing strategic partnerships, driving direct sales, as well as indirect revenue in new and existing markets globally. She's focused on defining and growing Spaulding Ridge's brand identity and cultivating go-to-market strategies for the firm's practices and new offerings—partnering with clients to improve their organizations and their teams' futures.

"As leader of Spaulding Ridge's strategic partnerships with software companies like Salesforce, Anaplan, DocuSign, MuleSoft, NetSuite, OneStream and others, I'm responsible for understanding the key differentiators within the products we work with as well as the talents and unique knowledge within our Spaulding Ridge team, she says. "When we successfully bring the two together to solve business problems it's like catching lightning in a bottle. I love the creative process; getting in the same room with our partners and building something new together."

Like many, Truett says her greatest personal achievement is becoming a mother to her little girl, Grace. "It's the most challenging and rewarding experience of my life," she says.

Professionally, she considers her greatest achievement to be helping build Spaulding Ridge from inception to the company it is today. "We've been able to successfully acquire two companies, grow from 0 to 165-plus employees, receive multiple accolades and awards from our partners, give back to the global community and much more in two short years," Truett says. "I'm proud of what we've built and excited about what's to come."

As far as winning Consulting's Women Leaders in Technology award, Truett says there are so many women and men in this profession who inspire her daily, "so to receive the nomination by my peers and to be recognized with the award feels extremely gratifying and humbling," she says.

Professionally, what are you most looking forward over the next 12 months?

Truett: "We are living in unprecedented times amid the Coronavirus pandemic.  With its extreme challenges I believe it also brings opportunity to achieve outcomes with digital tools and solutions that must replace face-to-face interactions for the safety of our society. With necessity being the mother of invention, I look forward to working with our technology partners to overcome a whole new set of obstacles to connect people and redefine how they work together."
