The 2020 Rising Stars of the Profession: Amit Shah

Amit Shah says he decided to enter consulting to collaborate with the brightest talent and help others. He was interested in learning across industries and wanted the opportunity to create high-value outcomes. "I enjoy the variety we have across projects, as it keeps me engaged and committed to learning," Shah says. "As consultants, we differentiate ourselves with talent and drive. This is particularly true at Pariveda, where we hire the top-tier talent to help grow the next generation of consultants."

Shah says he enjoys seeing my teams at Pariveda develop and grow through its Expectations Framework, a robust development tool that the team leverage to mature consultants from college hires to executives. 

"I am immensely proud when I see the outcomes from our investments in mentoring, coaching, and teaching," Shah. "A client-facing accomplishment that I am currently most proud to share about is an Innovation Hub. Pariveda collaborated with a healthcare system to leverage emerging technology to improve patient experiences and drive the benefit-to-cost ratio up. We partnered strongly to ensure their vision would come to life. Our teams came together around a complex problem—white boarding through late nights—to push our creative options and drive to the solution. This foundational work is changing the game for healthcare organizations and making people's lives better." 

Shah says he approaches his work as a servant leader and earn respect from his teams so that he can influence outcomes and develop people fully. "I am at Pariveda because of our commitment to helping each person grow to his or her fullest potential—we have a culture of collaboration, and I fully believe I am here to serve my team," he says. 

And when it comes to being a Rising Star of the Profession, Shah says the award represents a culmination of many things that he's achieved over her career. "I enjoy demonstrating the Pariveda model of listening and bringing new solutions to our clients. It shows the impact a person can make by simply listening—being there when people need us. This recognition represents the role I play in the larger ecosystem of Pariveda, and I am grateful for my leadership and the teams who enabled my success."

Q&A: What excites you most about your career?

Shah: "In addition to participating in and overseeing client projects, I am responsible for marketing our brand, selling new internal activities that help grow our employees. When Pariveda colleagues ask me to share the biggest difference I have experienced in moving from big consulting firms to a smaller one, it is that I am now more of an entrepreneurial leader than a consultant. The client-facing work we do tends to be different as well—we operate effectively in smaller teams and run projects successfully."
