Haibo Zhang says he is proud that he's been able to turn his love for and knowledge of data into a career in which he's helping companies apply analytical context to solve real-world problems. Zhang is Crowe's Financial Crime Analytics Managing Director and has more than 14 years of experience providing valuable advanced analytics solutions to fight financial crimes.
He offers essential expertise for building-out practice standards and frameworks in organizations addressing financial crimes. He leverages his past global leadership roles at AML software companies and global financial institutions to provide leadership of the firm's advanced analytics capabilities.
He likes "being able to work as a team with other experts in their fields to identify problems and develop solutions in a collaborative way," Zhang says. "Crowe has a large base of industry experts and together, we've worked to create significant breakthrough advances for our clients."
In addition, being a part of a team and "winning" together is such a rewarding aspect of consulting, he says. "I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and helping them grow and succeed."
He is a recognized analytics expert holding years of software company and financial services analytics expertise. Zhang has held key product management, architecture and analytics roles at major AML software companies including Searchspace, Fortent and Actimize.
At HSBC, he was responsible for delivering technology and analytical components of successful AML regulatory remediation programs as the US Head of Analytics, Global Head of Analytics, and Global Head of Applied Analytics in the Global Risk Analytics function and the Financial Crime Threat Mitigation function.
Today, Zhang leads Crowe's Global Financial Crime Data Analytics practice as a Managing Director from Crowe's London office. This team is leveraging Haibo's extensive experience to create breakthrough advances in applying advanced analytical context to help fight financial crime.
"Crowe has always strived to make smart decisions that bring lasting value to our clients. In the last 12 months my Global Financial Crime Analytics team has been able to create two innovative solutions using data science to help our clients fight financial crime," he says. "I enjoyed collaborating with my team members, combining Crowe's Deep Specialization and my previous experience with large international banks on each of these new solutions."
