This is Consulting magazine's thirteenth year honoring The Women Leaders in Consulting. We began this award back in 2007 because we thought, frankly, it was long overdue. Twelve years and 165 Women Leaders award recipients later, we're more convinced than ever that it was. And we are even more committed to promoting the collective impact of women leaders in the consulting profession—even though statistics say woman make up only about a quarter of the entire industry. We all are well aware their impact on the consulting profession is far greater.
Over the last thirteen years, the Women Leaders in Consulting Gala has become, in our opinion, Consulting magazine's most important and impactful initiative. Starting with just a handful of nominations in its first year, the award has grown each year. I'm proud to say this year we received 430 nominations—this year's honorees are, indeed, in very rare company.
Our Women Leaders coverage begins on Page 8 and runs 34 pages. This year's class is highlighted by EY's Lisa Caldwell as the Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
But for all of the recipients, this is a celebration of their own accomplishments. In a profession where the road less traveled is rarely the easiest route, these women found their way to this point by making the journey on their own terms, often at great sacrifice. In doing so, they've not only achieved great things, but they've blazed a trail for other women to follow.
And for the firms, tonight is a celebration of commitment—the commitment shown to invest time, energy and resources in women's initiatives. These women are here tonight because their own firms believed in them, their ability, their passion, and their potential. For that vision, the firms are also to be congratulated; none of these women would be here tonight without the support of a top-notch consulting firm that understands this initiative.
