REVENUE GROWTH: 168%

HQ: Portland, Ore.

Propeller is a management consulting firm with offices in Portland, San Francisco, Denver and Silicon Valley. Consulting caught up with Amy Weeden, CEO of Propeller to discuss the firm.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Weeden: Our employees are essential to our growth and success. We have an exceptional team of consultants who work with our clients to drive value and implement creative business solutions. Our strong culture ties us together with a shared purpose to create meaningful impact and enjoy ourselves in the process. Measurable results and glowing feedback from clients allow us to take on greater challenges which drives our expansion to new clients and markets. Growth has been part of Propeller's vision since we formed the company and a strong partnership with our clients is an important part of that vision. As an ESOP company, we provide detailed visibility of our progress to our employees and engage them in the journey. Our opportunities and successes are shared collectively.

Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Weeden: 2019 has been a strong year for the Propeller team and we are pacing to hit our aggressive targets. We continue to serve long-standing clients and have added many new clients across a wide range of industries. Earlier this year we expanded east to open our office in Denver and will open a Silicon Valley office in the fall. Additionally, we added some exceptional talent to the team and have been able to expand our service offerings to meet the ever-changing needs of the market. From a client perspective, we are seeing tangible results from multi-year transformation efforts that have positioned them for success within the marketplace.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2020?

Weeden: We plan on continuing our growth into 2020 by expanding our business and client relationships in both our existing and new markets. We expect to continue our accelerated rate of growth and invest in process and structure to enable sustained growth in the coming years. From a talent perspective, we are very focused on what makes Propeller a great place to work and will aggressively work towards attracting and retaining exceptional people who align with our culture and client service approach. As macroeconomic forces shift in 2020, clients will be looking for consulting partners that provide more tangible value—creative approaches, innovation and practical know-how to get things done.

Consulting: What are your firm's biggest challenges in 2020?

Weeden: As we approach 2020, we are a different company than we've ever been before. We will need to adapt to uphold our company culture and quality of service as we grow in additional markets.

Consulting: What does being named a Fastest Growing Firm mean to your firm, employees and clients?

Weeden: Propeller is honored to be named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms for three years in a row. We believe in setting aggressive goals and are thoughtful about how we pursue those goals. This recognition is proof that our goals and strategies are meaningful in our industry. Our employees are essential to our growth and success—we wouldn't be where we are today without such amazing staff. We celebrate this as a team!
