REVENUE GROWTH: 430%

HQ: McLean, Va.

Savan Group is a management, IT, and digital transformation consulting firm. "Its mission is to offer consulting deserving of our clients," says Veeral Majmudar, President & CEO of Savan Group. Consulting sat down with Majmudar to discuss the firm's No. 8 ranking.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Majmudar: Savan Group has been committed to investing in our staff on both the service delivery and operations sides, growing our firm's leadership team, expanding our service offerings to include digital transformation, and acquiring new work—both by expanding our reach with existing clients as well as winning new contracts. We find success through people. Because we believe this, we've invested in new training and professional development opportunities. This has paid dividends, as we're able to place highly qualified and seasoned talent in our client environments. Our workplace culture embodies high-energy, top-performing, and results-driven individuals who have propelled our organization forward not only in their quests to execute our firm's mission, but also as they've made targeted goals for personal and professional development. We take a lot of pride in that.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2020?

Majmudar: We are excited about the coming year: we're partnering with new and existing clients and pressing forward with a particular focus on digital transformation to create a more customer-centric experience for stakeholders. As government agencies continue to focus on IT modernization efforts, information and data management, and digital solutions, Savan Group has the opportunity to bring our expertise in digital strategy, advanced analytics, data visualization, and intelligent process automation into our clients' organizations to help them understand what data they have, where it is, its security, and importantly how they can use it in an efficient and effective way. As we look towards 2020, we know digital transformation will be the area where our clients face the most challenges, and with our current toolkit and the ability to sketch out new solutions for unique problems, we are enthusiastic about the path we are on.

Consulting: What are your firm's biggest challenges in 2020?

Majmudar: As I'm sure several other consulting firms will echo, we must continue to recruit talented people who not only possess the depth and breadth of expertise needed to meet our clients' challenges, but who embody the core values we uphold as a firm: integrity, hustle, quality, accountability, and collaboration. We've been successful in doing so these past few years, but it's a very job seeker–friendly market, which has required us to employ more intentional strategies for recruiting and retaining our people. Secondly, we have been keeping up with the curve in terms of the types of challenges our clients our facing, which is why we expanded our service offerings to include digital transformation. Now that we're there, the challenge will be to stay ahead of that curve. We need to continue thinking about the types of solutions we can offer, which includes leveraging emerging technologies and applying innovative organizational design principles.

Consulting: What does being named a Fastest Growing Firm mean to your firm, employees and clients?

Majmudar: First of all, what an honor to have made this list for yet another consecutive year—especially considering the challenges faced by all government contracting firms in our industry at the start of 2019. Thank you, Consulting Magazine! It's a testament to our employees, leadership, and the trust our clients continue to have in us. I think that receiving this recognition is proof of the resiliency and grit we possess as a unit.
